Will be really interesting to see if the Flames struggle next year and what/if Hartley can get them back on track.

Unlikely. Bouma, Ferland, Giordano all healthy... Bennett, Colborne, Monahan, Gaudreau progressing. Odds of a major step back are low. Kings, Colorado, Sharks, Vancouver are all on the down slide now.

Disagree, two of their leading scorers are nearly 40 and the hardnosed rattle the cage coaching only works for one season.

Please, please stop posting links to Lambert articles.

The best way to make his obvious trollling disappear is to cut off his click revenue.

Yes, their offense from their young guys dried up last season, but you can't just write players like Landeskog, MacKinnon and Duchane off and say they're on the downturn.

Alex Tanguay must give him nightmares.

I'm not writing them off but they are a badly composed team, not built with all around consistency in mind.

I'm really pleased for Hartley and him getting the recognition he deserves.

There are still big challenges ahead, particularly now expectations have been raised. But I Boblieve we have the guy that can meet them.

I can agree with that, I just don't think it's fair to say they're "trending down".

Well, they probably will for the short term once Iginla and Tanguay slow down. If they lose 40 or 50 points in production that'll be hard to make up especially with Roy using emotion to drive the team. Obviously just speculation, maybe they win the Cup next year, I dunno.

Yeah, even after the poor seasons Hartley had initially with the Flames, I don't think anyone suggested firing him on CP.

The Kings are in cap hell, with a number of aging high priced players. They need to solve salary issues, which is hard with the Voynov situation and with Richards.

@SUNIanBusby: Poor photographer falls in front row of presser. "That's two minutes for diving," Hartley says. He has a sense of a humour too #nhl #flames

Even at his first press conference he threw out an amazing bobism.

Voynov situation has been resolved (pretty much). The team suspended him, to go along with his league suspension, which removes his $4.17M cap hit.

Good thing they have a very good young core that's only getting better..

Just because they have a couple veteran players doesn't mean they're on the down swing.
