In terms of Hiller: The teams looking for goaltenders have Talbot, Lack, Jones and Lehner as their first priorities. For older goaltenders, Anderson and Lehtonen are also available. Once some of those other goaltenders move, teams might be focused on Hiller. But there is more interest in some of those other names first.

A lot of GMs seem to like to finish all the heavy lifting soon after free agency. The longer it takes for us to trade Hiller, I think the less likely it becomes for another team to add a $5 million piece.
It's not like Hiller would be going somewhere to backup.
I really have to question how interested the Flames are in Lehner and Talbot. I think some games are being played here.

I think since Treliving became GM that the Flames have been constantly involved in rumours because he's a tireless worker that is probably always kicking tires in hopes of making a deal that improves the team. However that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to make a bad trade or gamble away future. The guy is doing his job that's all and I personally don't see much moves from the Flames but you never know as maybe he gets a bite from a team.

Surely Hiller at 50% would be enticing to some teams. Perhaps he just hasn't found the right deal yet.

Per @NYP_Brooksie: #Oilers, #Sabres, #Stars, #SJSharks believed to have submitted offers for Cam Talbot, or are on verge of doing so. #NYR

LOL boy do the Rangers ever leak a lot of information. By design of course but how many rumours have we heard over the last few weeks about Cam frikking Talbot? You would think we were talking about Carey Price here or something with all these teams crawling over each other with offers.

Edmonton, Buffalo, Dallas and San Jose are believed to have either submitted offers for Talbot, who has one more year at $1.45 million remaining on his contract as a prelude to 2016 free agency, or are on the verge of doing so. The Rangers, who traded their 2015 first-round selection to Tampa Bay in the trade for Martin St. Louis, aren’t due up until 59th.
|
Quote:
The Oilers, who will select Connor McDavid first overall, also own the 16th, 33rd and 57th picks, but have not yet offered the Blueshirts their second first-rounder. The Sabres, who will draft Jack Eichel second overall, also own the 21st, 31st and 51st selections, but they also have not made their second first-rounder available.

I hope the Canucks trade Lack. He's arguably already better than Miller, plus he's significantly younger.
And also they'd be one Ryan Miller injury away from having Markstrom/whatever AHL goalie as their tandem.

I was just trying to figure out how many teams are actually interested in new goaltending.. if we can call Talbot a starter. Buffalo, Edmonton, Minnesota and San Jose?
I didn't have Dallas pegged in that group, but I guess the rumours around Lehtonen makes sense.
Then maybe teams like Calgary and Philidelphia that are more of a question mark? Have a 'starter' but are interested in upgrading.

I'm not so sure about Philly. Mason had a pretty good year, it was the team in front of him that sucked.

Carolina as well depending on if Ward indicates he doesn't want to stay.
St. Louis because they have always had goaltending issues. If they are going to shake things up up front I have a difficult time believing they will leave goaltending unaddressed.

A few hours after a team source confirmed to Trib Total Media that the Penguins and Russian winger Sergei Plotnikov intend on striking a deal at the start of NHL free agency on July 1, plans of potentially luring another talented Russian winger emerged.
In addition to wanting to sign Plotnikov, the Penguins are also interested in bringing in 27-year-old center Viktor Tikhonov, the source said.
Tikhonov, grandson of the late Russian Olympic coach with the same name, was a first-round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2008.

Thee's a good fit for Tikhonov. Pens would do well bringing him in.

McKenzie speculates on Vancouver radio that the Canucks may trade Lack to the Flames if the Flames are the best offer.

So Eddie Lack + 2016 2nd rounder for Ben Hanowski?

Wouldn't they trade Lack to any team that gives them the best offer?
I know about keeping him in the West/trading him to the East. Buffalo is willing to part with #31 so Calgary would have to do better then that.

Does that mean the Flames made an offer for Lack?
The Lack of insider information here is perplexing and I will need to lie down soon.

He was being asked if the Canucks would prefer to trade Lack to the Eastern conference.
He also mentioned that Calgary has been busy shopping for a goaltender.

Swap the 2nd for Eddie Lack's dad and you have Jim Hughson's approval.
