And how old is that post? Backlund is extended.
I look at these talking heads like a fishing lure, some of them are using the right bait and hooking us real good, but then you get clowns like this guy who throw out a pop can and tell you its a minnow.

I was confused at first too. Spector meant both Sutter and Hudler are UFA in a year, not Backlund

Yeah, I see Bennett playing W in the future. I think his game translates easily to the wing and lets him get his nose dirty which he seems to enjoy.

Bruins GM Don Sweeney hasn't ruled out trading Carl Soderberg's negotiating rights. At least two teams considering it.

If #CBJ are pursuing the No. 3 pick, seems pretty clear it's Boston College D Noah Hanifin they are targeting. #needforD

We drafted Bennett as a Centre and that's what we need him to eventually be going forward.
Neither Backlund and Stajan are ever going to be a 1A/1B with Monahan, however Bennett can be.
Start him as the 3rd line C behind Monahan/Backlund get him easy matchups, use him on the 2nd unit PP.
Once he develops a bit further swap him with Backlund.

If it's Johansen they're willing to give up and Hanifin is still on board at #4 it's hard to think the Leafs pass up on that deal.

I don't. A player of Bennett's potential shouldn't be wasted by moving him to the wing. Bennett and Monahan could turn out to be an amazing tandem. Bennett has all the tools to be great in that position.

Or you could have three lines set up like this moving forward. Just have to figure out the RWers.
Gaudreau-Monahan-
Bennett-Sutter-
Backlund-Jankowski-
And potentially swapping Sutter and Janko if Janko develops into a top 6 offensive center.

Didn't Lehner crap the bucket this past season? Wasn't he bounced by Anderson and Hammond?

True, but his performance the previous two seasons, he was over 3.00 GAA, and his save percentage was . . . . meh.
Outside of his age, why are we getting excited for this guy again?

Those previous two seasons were as a 21 and 22 year old, that's nothing to brush off. Joni Ortio has had less NHL starts and worse NHL stats and we're all excited to see what he does as an NHL'er this upcoming season.
Lehner got off to a hot start. got rocky after then had a concussion issues. I can't believe he's the one the Senators are thinking about shipping out. He has legitimate #1 upside, more so then Ortio IMO.
The two of them could be an interesting pair next season.

I'm glad trades aren't negotiated by fans. Given the outlandish expectations, I don't imagine a single deal would get done.

...Bennett is the highest drafted, and highest thought of centre on that lineup. Yet, for some reason you're projecting a career 3rd line centre (Sutter) and a longshot prospect (Jankowski) to be better centres than the NHL Central Scouting's highest ranked player of the 2014 draft.
This train of thought just makes no sense. At all.
Why wouldn't you project Jankowski to shift to the wing? Or Sutter?

He's a quality player IMO. Jack of all trades type, kind of like a rich man's Backlund. Not really the type of player we should be targeting right now though.

Size + Faceoffs.
Sutter is over 50%
Janko is one of the top faceoff guys in the NCAA
Both are 6-3, where Bennett is 6-0
Having so many centers and only 4 spots, someone would have to move to the wing. Those decisions would have to be made on the ice by Hartley and he would know more than anyone what would work best.
