I would love to get 1 of their 3 d prospects. I hate the thought of no Hudler though... then again it could be just for 1 year as the flames could sign him next summer!

I'd want pouliot and a 2nd.
Or I'd be happy with just Matta....

Pens don't give up Maata and definitely not Pouliot for Hudler.
You get a Dumoulin or Harrington + pick maybe

Awww that's cute. You think Hughson's infatuation with Eddie Lack and his dad was because of Eddie Lack and not because he played for Jim's team.
Make no mistake, the second Lack is traded, Jim will immediately forget the Legend of Lack and Eddie Lack's dad, and will bestow the legend status on Vancouver's next back up and find out who their dad is.

@drosennhl: Jiri Hudler was asked today what injury he had in the playoffs. "Broken heart," he said.

given the impact hudler has had on our young guys, and being a core part of the offense/PP, trading away Hudler and removing him from the dressing room seems to be exactly what the new EA NHL player morale concept in be a gm is about.
I just don't see this happening. If the flames are going this route, then every player on the rebuilding roster should be in discussions to see if the desired price would be attainable on the market (stajan, wideman, russel, giordano)..

The argument for trading Hudler isn't that he isn't a good fit, it's that we won't be able to afford him on a big long term contract when we take into account the new contracts coming up for Gaudreau, Monahan, etc. Myself, I don't necessarily agree with this but there it is.

It isn't that we can't afford him, we could. He's not getting a $7mil+ per year contract. The argument is that at 31 years old, it may not be a responsible move as an organization to use him for one more year then lose him for nothing when we (or he) decide that we don't want to sign a long term deal at 31.
So when you combine that with a likely all time career high return he'd get this off season, it'd make sense to explore trade options.

There are pros and cons to keeping him and trading him. I'm sure Treliving will weigh those and do what is right and I'm fine with either. If I had to choose I would prefer dealing him if we could get a quality package in return. If the package is weak then I'd prefer to keep him.

The Penguin's never-ending search for a winger to play with Syd reminds me of the Jarome centre situation

Then you don't trade him to the Pens. Hudler is worth more than Dumoulin/Harrington plus a 2nd. You're selling high on him so you look for an overpayment from a team that really has a need for him. IMO The Flames are fine to keep Hudler even if he regresses slightly in points. You only trade him if you can get a really good return for him.

Arizona got decent D prospect and 1st from Hawks for a rental Vermette.
A full season Hudler has to be worth more then that. Id want Pens 2016 1st, Pouliot, something.

Hearing Stars, Penguins and Panthers are teams most interested in #Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp. Asking price still too high.

Don Maloney says he has two trade offers -- one firm -- for the No. 3 pick that is giving him pause. "One team is being really aggressive."

Maloney also said he has an offer to swap the No. 3 overall pick for a pick several slots down but still in Top 10.
