By the time this kid graduates from architecture school (like 12 years from now), he will be able to apply to design the Flames arena that is "very close to be finalized".....

Yeah just to clarify, that is a ridiculously talented design for a 14 year old. Like he's going to have a very successful career, you can tell. I was just stating that if any team released that rendering for an arena it would be destroyed by the public and mocked for being a 90's arena rendering.
It reminds me of Southland Leisure Centre, actually. But for a kid that's some impressive work.

I hope they put in a wave pool!

The glass sides remind me of the old Montreal Forum where the escalators were lit up like two crossed hockey sticks. I really like that idea. The mock up is rough sure, put that idea in the hands of a well experienced designer and boom, a sweet new arena
Bonus points to the kid for putting bathrooms every four feet apart on every level too. Man, that's a TON of bathrooms!

But... why even say this?
That's like saying, look at that 14 year old take a slap shot. Faster and more accurate then mine for sure, but if we suited him up on the flames, it would be painfully obvious how slow the shot actually is.
You're comparing a novice 14 year old to professionals, why?
Because it was posted in the Flames arena thread, so I just made the obvious observation that it's a 90's style design and not very good compared to actual designs.
But that doesn't matter because it's a 14 year old kids design and was rock solid and clearly shows he has a huge future ahead of him.
I have to keep repeating this, but I'm not a very good contributing poster, if I didn't say anything stupid I would have like 30 posts over the last 9 years. And to the guy who asked where my design was; When I was 14 I couldn't draw a 2D front side of a building, so there's no 3D, virtual tour of my arena design coming.

This thread has deviated into discussing arena renderings by an 8th grader.
Sigh.
To be fair, an 8th grader has given us more than the Flames have in the 2 1/2 years since this thread was started.

It's honestly getting to the point where I think this project might be too complex and too ambitious for the Flames to pull off.
Just pick a site that is in downtown, build a God damned 19,000 seat arena and be done with it.
It is possible that sites have been picked and feasibility studies with regards to cost, parking, traffic patterns and access are being conducted.
The organization would probably like to avoid having egg on their faces if the one site they thought would be perfect turns out to be all wrong so they are keeping quiet until all the numbers are crunched.
sheeeeeeit guys. Calm down. I see where flameswin is coming from and I totally agree. Nobody is questioning the kid's graphic design abilities. I think I can speak for flameswin that as a conceptual building footprint the building would not be deemed "acceptable" as a 21st century facility. How the structure is laid out is quite similar to that of the Palladium in Ottawa (90s arena).
Given some additional direction and inspiration, I think the teenager could create an excellent rendering of a 21st century facility. What we will end up seeing from the Flames will be quite more intricate in design.
