Wishes Hudler, Johnny, and Hartley the best at the NHL Awards

Nothing new to report on contractual stuff - RFAs, etc.

"It's Best Player Available"

feels strongly that when you get into picking a certain position because of needs you can make mistakes

hopefully it aligns with needs

can't predict how active Flames will be in trade market
Flames are kind of popular because of their multiple 2nds
expectations right now is they will make 9 selections at the draft but that could change

BPA because you can't go for your immediate needs but it would be nice if the needs correspond or he said something like that.

There is more depth at the forward position especially early on.

Ledges get a little more fuller in the later rounds of the draft (in terms of defencemen and forwards)

Odds are we are going to be pickin a player that's gonna need time. I really do feel comfortable at 15, that we're going to get a good player.

Sounds like they think their are 3 dmen in the first round and that more forward depth early in the first.

Evens out later in the rounds between forwards and d-men.

On mock drafting: look at reserve lists and look at past draft histories and who could fit with each team. Lots of behind scenes intel trying to figure out who make take who.

Trying to figure out who may slide down to them.

Footspeed and Skill are important factors.

Character and compete often times drive how well a player uses his physical attributes and how close to the ceiling a player can get.

Tampa was out of juice by the end, you need to be able to withstand 110+ games.

With emphasis on speed and skill I could see us being interested in Kylington. Wouldn't be surprised if we really tried to dig deep on his mental attributes.

He specifically mentioned speed, skill and character. I don't think they draft Kylington.

There is lot's of [trade] talk. Maybe more than last year.

Don't know if there is going to be good growth on the cap. That might open up som opportunities.

Hard to find fits. Nobody wants to give up good players.

I think I have been clear for a while now, a lot of my calories are spent on the long term.

There is depth at C. Like how we are set up there.

Defence is an area we need to improve there. Hickey needs to develop. Young players in the minors but can't rush them.

In goal. Continue to look at different opportunities at how to get better.
