Yes... The great and proud tradition of an amateur designed flag from a contest held 30 years ago. Looks like a lot of thought went into it too.
Can we somehow do a mother wearing a shirt with a mash up of all the home builders logos with several top drinking children in a van with a riders bumper sticker atop an interchange clashing with a latte sipping bongo playing bike riding petroleum engineer with a pink slip sitting on the peace bridge?

How about a flag designed by Ed Hardy?

What? I've lived here my entire life and I've never seen a city flag anywhere. I didn't even know we had one.

really? I have seen it a lot actually. Anyway I think we should leave it alone. I like it and I shudder at what they'll replace it with.
I've said it on here before, but not everything about Calgary has to change.

Hah! Regarding that Hello Calgary (and other cities) video, The Simpsons did a take off of that on today's episode! And they even had Calgary as one of the cities in the mashup of videos.
Regarding the real anthem, Neighbours to the World, my music teacher in grade school entered that contest too. He finished in the top five I believe (it either went from public to panel voting, or panel to public I think, which is why they had a top five) but ended up losing. I still remember all the words to his song though, our students loved it a lot and we would sing it all the time.

Taking a closer look at the flag, does anyone else think the cowboy hat is supposed to double as a rose? Might just be going crazy.

I don't think so, but playing along, is there any significance of the rose to Calgary?
The wild rose is for Alberta, but it doesn't look like a traditional rose anyway. In fact, I've always thought it was a really dumb name for the flower. Has NOTHING in common with roses.

Ya I just thought "Wild Rose Country" and all that. It just struck me as something I might be missing - like how people miss what the Wild logo is, or that Amazon has an arrow from A to Z etc.
After googling what a wild rose actually looks like - ya, obviously I'm wrong lol.

This is what you get when you try to create a flag that will please everyone and represent everything about your city...

Well there ya go. I get smarter everyday. I knew I shouda looked it up. I suspect I did somewhere along the line. Might have been pre wiki page (or even pre wiki)
Not trying to save face. Know I looked it up somewhere along the line.
Poop on everyone who thinks Wikipedia is a less reliable source than traditional encyclopedias. It's wrong a lot, bit so were the old ones.
Still not sure the design on the flag is anything more than a cowboy hat. Hey, but if the current flag is also a symbol for the wild rose, more power to it.
Thinking about it, I remember being taught of the multiple meanings and symbols within the Calgary '88 logo. There's like a dozen of them in there. So maybe evman did see something on the flag most of is missed.

The runner up is far better than the winner.
Edit. I didn't realize that was supposed to be the Calgary Tower from below. That knowledge doesn't make the design better.

The winner has to be a joke. It's terrible. The runner up is nice but once the Saddledome is gone it will be out of date.
