Cam Talbot will very, very likely be an Oiler.
Mods can PM for source.

Please get Talbot with the 16th overall Oilers.
As for Lehner ... I just don't see why. The value that Ottawa apparently has placed on him is way out of the park for what we would be acquiring him for. I also don't see why we would acquire him as the guy to carry the load with Ortio until Gillies is ready. He hasn't proven he can do it and seems to be a little emotionally volatile. I'd rather just tandem one of our current guys with Ortio. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind a move like this.

They're probably offering up their 16th overall pick or their high 2nd rounder +....

Maybe Treliving doesn't believe in Ortio. To be honest, he could just be a flash in the pan. Many a goalie did well in the minors only to be so-so in the bigs.
Lehner could be insurance against Ortio. If Hiller/Lehner work out, Ortio could fetch a good return as well.

LOL @ Oilers picking up other team's backups hoping they are bonafide starters. I love it!

It's actually a good way to get a starter. The problem is the Oilers can't play defence.

An asking price of a top 6 + a pick is laughable. But for a decent price, I wouldn't mind acquiring Lehner.
No way would I send Ortio back the other way though, would rather keep Ortio.
As for Gillies, Treliving has specifically made comments about expecting him to take 3 years. Whether he needs that long is debatable, but I think it's a safe bet that, on their long-term projections, they have Gillies pencilled into Stockton for at least 2 or 3 years (meaning, they need another goalie).
Someone mentioned above that Lehner can still be sent down without waivers, if that is true, then I am much more on board with acquiring him. Start the season with Hiller/Ortio and Lehner/Gillies in Stockton, and then wait to see how they all play. Look to move Hiller at the deadline, or somewhere along the way if another team runs into injury problems. Finish the season with Ortio/Lehner and Gillies in the A.
I could live with all that as a plan, pending the price of acquiring Lehner (but keeping in mind that we would also get a return back for Hiller at the deadline to soften the cost).

Not interested in either goalie unless the price is really low.
I'm not convinced that either is much more than an average back-up at this point. Talbot is about the same age as Ramo, so I would rather just re-sign Ramo.

If a guy like Talbot or Lehner can't be had for a 2nd + whatever, I've no interest. With three rock solid goalie prospects in the organization, there are easier ways to upgrade the position.
Anti Niemi is better than Hiller or Ramo. He's a UFA. Cam Ward at $6.3m for one year is doable, and he's likely to be a way cheaper to acquire. Goalies, especially non-established ones, have so very little trade value. The last two to be traded for first round picks were 26 year old Corey Schneider, and pending UFA gamble Ryan Miller.
Bernier got two 2nds. These guys can be acquired for what amounts to a song.

Lehner and Ortio would both have to clear waivers to go to AHL....

What? just saying there has been a lot of chatter about the Oilers and Talbot that he doesn't need to give up a source to the moderators for people to believe him.

I think he's saying a trade to Edmonton is imminent/practically guaranteed.

Again I am not sure why anyone would doubt him, with all the chatter about the Oilers and Talbot.

I really hope Sather takes 16th overall off the oilers for Talbot. That would help me sleep at night knowing they won't be drafting a good defenseman who's career will be destroyed.

sureLoss I agree that Edm certainly were viewed as the frontrunners and it's not really breaking news. Fire of the Phoenix is correct. I said mods can PM for source because I don't want to just sling BS around.

I'd rather go with Hiller/Ortio (or ideally, Ramo/Ortio and trade Hiller). Don't see a reason to trade for a goalie right now.
