I'm really high on Konecny as well and would be thrilled if we drafted him. I can't see it happening though.

He has great character and leadership, so him getting picked by us shouldn't be out of the question.

Wouldn't mind Konecny with 1st. But I think if Merkley or Meier are still on the board when Treliving steps up to the podium, they have the edge. Merkley is bigger, plays responsibly too, and is a Calgarian kid to boot.

Brad Treliving trolls Flames fans at the 2015 draft

15th overall - Flames 1st - G Ilya Samsanov
Can't pass on the top goaltender of the draft. Will make you forget all about Jon Gillies.

45th overall - Flames 2nd - C Denis Malgin
5'8'' skilled center will do great things with Gaudreau. Plus if you are only half paying attention Malgin sounds like Malkin.

52nd overall - Capitals 2nd - C Nicholas Roy
Has all the tools to be a 1st line center, just needs consistency and to put it altogether. Project pick that could be the best player of the draft in 10 years.

53rd overall - Canucks 2nd - LW Austin Wagner
Mason Raymond 2.0? One of the fastest skaters in the draft and 6'2'', just hope his brains and hands can catch up.

76th overall - Flames 3rd - RW Gabriel Gagne
A big RW project pick that could be the 2nd best player in the draft in 10 years.

83rd overall - Capitals 3rd - LW/RW Vlad Tkachev
Hah those Ducks won't know what to do when Gaudreau-Malgin-Tkachev just skate between their legs in the playoffs.

136th overall - Flames 5th - D Ziyat Paygin
After checking fan reaction thus far on twitter during the 4th round, decided to get a defenceman lest there be a lynch mob waiting once management gets to Calgary. Big Russian stay at home defender. BIG = GOOD.

166th overall - Flames 6th - G Adin Hill
Insurance just in case Samsanov, McDonald, Gillies and Ortio don't pan out.

196th overall - Flames 7th - D Jared Hauf
20 year old 6'6'' stay at home defenceman who also happens to be one of the best fighters in the WHL. Should fill the Truculence quota Burkie gave.

I've seen his interviews and his demeanor reminds me a lot of Kris Russell. They're also both small guys that play with a lot of determination - I think there is a decent chance Flames pick him if he is on the board. I'm generally against adding another small guy when we have so many but I like him a lot.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, and Konecny in the top six - not just a lot of skill, it's a high character group too.

Konecny may eventually replace Hudler and will be about the same size.

The concern I have about Merkley is his rather weak shot. Admittedly this is based only on viewing highlights. Konecny can really fire the puck.

I like these picks! Appleby looked good in the Memorial Cup, and Lindgren just might be a sleeper!

Let's see...missed 1st three picks since they were traded for Hamilton.
Nailed Anderson at 53 overall.

Rest was a wash, but as an ironic quirk of fate, two of the picks we traded got used on Senyshyn and Adin Hill.
