Worry for it though as it didn't get a lot of hype the first time, and now it is pretty much head to head with Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront.
Get the definitive edition at a low price on the console of your choice a year or so later

That is a lot of games this generation, can't fault this game only for that.

I kind of feel like the real winner of E3 might be Square-Enix.

Lots of good games and hype to go with it.

Man did Nintendo ever drop the ball. Mario Maker looks awesome but we knew that a year ago. The only other thing remotely interesting was Star Fox Zero and there's too many questions around that. The graphics look like crap even for a Wii U game and some of the stuff they were saying about motion controls has me wary.

Wii U is pretty much toast.

Looks like no Red Dead Redemption sequel news this year.

Also, it looks like they're porting the original FF7 to iOS/Android too (not the remake though). Awesome!

FF7 remake, new jrpg from Square, Kingdom Hearts 3, new Star Ocean game, and FF15 (whenver it's due), finally getting excited for Square again. Finally gives me a reason to splurge on a PS4 soon.

Xenoblade Chronicles X coming out in Dec 4 is also awesome news. Guess it's time for a Wii U, although looking at their games line up, this might be the only game I own for the Wii U throughout it's lifetime lol.

Asking customers to invest money up front before fully funding development of the game?

Makes sense for small developers but to see Sony announce this at E3 was kind of surprising.

Is this going to become more common?
Nope not just you. I don't like when movies involving established actors and directors use it nor do I like this. I don't believe Kickstarter should be used by large companies to make more profits. And yes if the tables were turned and it was MS it would be the DRM thing on a smaller scale for negative press. I'm not on board with it regardless of who's behind it quite frankly.

Nintendo never does anything for E3 anymore. They save any and every big announcement for Nintendo Direct.

According to you Wii U has been toast every month for the past two years. Yet it continues to exist and get games from Nintendo. It's almost as if you've decided your raison d'etre has become to be the Jack Van Impe of Nintendo. Routinely predicting it's end and just moving the date to your next prediction. I am almost positive that if I asked you the answer to 2 + 2, you'd come back with "Wii U is toast, Nintendo hasn't done anything".

It's reaching ludicrous now.

I think it will do fine as not everyone is going to buy Fallout 4 and not everyone that buys Fallout 4 won't buy other games. I'm sure Microsoft will be heavily promoting the game in the fall prior to release and I believe this game won't be as underrated as the last one was kind of an unknown prior to release as Tomb Raider had kind of stagnated. Anyone that played it now has high expectations anticipation. It's not going to outsell multi-platform releases but I'm sure it will sell respectably.

As somebody who owns both systems though, I don't see myself buying Tomb Raider at launch. I could be the only one but wouldn't be surprised if others shared the same mindset.

With Battlefront coming out a week later I have the mindset to go "I will play Battlefront now and wait for the inevitable price drop for Rise of the Tomb Raider".

I enjoy the Tomb Raider games but yeah battlefront...they are releasing at the worst possible time and Tomb Raider games always drop in price fast despite the quality

Wait for the special edition or whatever, honestly that is the way to go with most games

Disagree, many people (myself included) had Nintendo winning the E3 conference last year.

Amiibo, Yoshi Wooley World, Smash Bros, Captain Toad, Zelda, Bayonetta 2, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Xenoblade, Mario Maker, and Splatoon were shown/announced at last year's E3 Nintendo Direct.

Coming off of the great show they had last year, this was a huge disappointment.

Last year as a Wii U owner I felt like they were committed to the cause, this year I feel like they were looking ahead to NX since really no new games for Wii U were announced.

Hell they didn't even give the Wii U a price drop to drive sales, I honestly think they don't want to drive penetration before they announce the NX.

If Tomb Raider were being released on PC at the same time as Battlefront I'd still be buying both.
