I don't see the Sens moving Zibenijad. He was a 6th overall pick and is starting to come into his own. Hudler doesn't have that kind of value

Zibenjad has been on the block before. The last two years IIRC actually.
I believe Chiasson, Stone, Hoffman and Pageau are the guys Murray would prefer to keep.
They have Lazar, Turris, Legwand and Pageau as their 4 C's and their RW is pretty solid too. I really think Zibenjad can be had.
EDIT: Especially considering they'd be adding Hudler. Anchoring a solid veteran presence and a guy that can get Bobby Ryan going. They cannot afford to have Ryan not produce at 7.25 year.

I think he was on the block for Kadri another young player. Doubt they move a 22 year old for a 31 year old looking for a payday next summer

Zib had a 20 goal, almost 50 point season as he cemented himself as a top 6 center for the Sens. No chance they move him for a 31 year old.

Did I say for Hudler alone? Go back and re-read my posts. I said there are tons of ways to build a deal with Ottawa. Then I laid out reasons why Zibenjad would be the odd man out.

He's not the odd man out, he's a key guy for them.

If anything Chiasson is the odd man out in Ottawa, behind Ryan and Stone.
That is assuming you believe he is a top 6 RW.

That's what I thought as well, and he checks a lot of boxes for the Flames.
Of course, he is 24 and so there may not be much more upside. He may just be a big bodied bottom six right winger.

Rather give the minutes to Bouma, Ferland, Jones, Colborne and Shore than bring in a guy like Chiasson. I just don't think he's an upgrade on any of those guys.

Nor did I. Ya know what would be really nice for him? To sign a hometown discount deal when he's a UFA and come back and win his fourth cup in the city where his wife gave birth to their children.

Being serious though, if the Hawks go to him, and tell him they can't pay him, and give him the option to stay on or pick his destination.
I have to think Calgary would be high on his list.
He fills a huge need, and man, that solves a lot of problems for the Flames.
Leadership
Experience
Defenseman. Top pair defenseman.
Right handed
Good age
Gio-Seabrook
Brodie-Wideman
Russell-Engellend
Lefty-Righty on every pair
Physicality, speed and puck handling on every pair
I also think that if he has to leave Chicago, this team can offer him more than anyone else in terms of money and a chance to win. It's a match made in heaven.

I think Seabrook would make Wideman expendable. Here's what I'd like to see in a few years:
Giordano - Brodie
Russell - Seabrook
Wotherspoon - Morrison

Gio-Brodie works, and it's a great fallback. But I think if you can try and build around a lefty-righty on each pair, it helps your offensive zone possession. I also aim for a defense core that can play 20-20-20 per pair. Also, make no mistake, Seabrook is a top pair defenseman.
And in a few years, as Gio drops off a bit:
Brodie-Seabrook
Gio-Morrison
Russell-Wotherspoon

he's not all that old either. for reference seabrooke just turned 30 yrs old, and gio is 31. still both viable players. a big add on defence makes us legitimate players if you ask me.

Sign him as a UFA as opposed to trading anything for him

I would love Seabrook on the Flames and if he is on the block the teams make sense as trade partners. I think Chicago will do whatever they can to keep their top 4 D together though and would get rid of Sharp or even Crawford before Seabrook.
