Unreal how casual that Canada backline looks. One bounce the wrong way and they're all scrambling, being out of position. It's been the case the whole 2nd half, the Dutch have had far too much running directly at the Canada defense.

^ It's the ridiculous pace of Melis that can throw EVERYBODY out; her pace burned us not 2 minutes ago, and no adjustment was made. So we paid for it.

The Chinese coach got red carded for interfering with play.

No "Handshake for Peace" from the New Zealand coach after the game.

So why was he still on the field? Or was that their assistant coach that the NZ coach refused to shake hands with?

The Chinese coach ran back to celebrate.
In the end that Dutch goal meant nothing.

For Canada...
Positives: Only 1 goal conceded in 3 games
Negatives: The fact that we cannot clone Chapman and have 4 of her at the back

Hopefully it smartened up the Canadian midfield and back 4, that things can go from comfortable to trouble real quick...in the second half, lucky only to concede one, and it is was all from one ball over the top or through the middle, and all on the counter attack.
Plus, a couple misses that would've put that game out of reach at 2-0 that won't fly as the opponents get better in the knockout stage.

Canada did enough but their ball control in mid was not impressive. The forwards for 85% the game looked non threatening.
Canada is still struggling to connect mutiple passes together.
Schmidt was really off today with her decisions jmo she has been off this tournement thus far.
Won the group but not very convincing.

So my hypothetical bracket is now.
China
2nd C
USA
3rd F
Germany
3rd D
1st F
2nd E
------------
Brazil
2nd D
Japan
Netherlands
Norway
2nd F
Canada
3rd C
Game to watch tomorrow is switzerland-cameroon. Winner gets China loser gets Canada

I dunno, Buchanan is one of the best CBs in the world and she's only 19.
So, if I understand this right Canada next plays the third place team in group C D or E. All I can tell is that Japan or Brazil won't be our opponent. Could be Switzerland, Cameroon, Ecuador, the US, Australia, Sweden, Nigeria, Costa Rica, Spain or South Korea.

Most likely will be Cameroon. They cannot be discounted; they put together a nice play from deep in their own to score against Japan, and any team that scores against Japan is potentially dangerous.
Then it gets stupendously difficult. If we manage to beat Norway and get out of our quarter, it's Brazil or Japan next in Edmonton on Canada Day.

That's a good point. My dream team would have her in midfield though, better use of her skill, IMO. In reality it's best to have her at the back.

I thought Schmidt was slightly better for awhile tonight. Last game she was awful.

It's still the easiest path.
