Most Canadian cities are almost entirely financially dependant on the Provincial and Federal governments. To finance the necessary infrastructure improvements, the aforementioned levels of government would simply earmark the funds that would already be headed to municipalities as World Cup Municipal Investments.

Why would the US want to share hosting responsibilities? There is no motivation for them or any real advantage to be had.

As they've brought in grass for friendly matches between European clubs, I doubt they'd hesitate for much more lucrative WCF matches.

I'm surprised he gave up the position so easily in the first place. I figured he would've used that resignation as a bargaining chip at some point to trade away his position for less heat/charges against him from the US or Swiss or both.
Either he figures things aren't as bad for him now that everyone around him is getting picked off, or he has enough fall guys ahead of him to take the blame, or thinks he has more support that will protect him, or he wants to cash this chip in at a later date when things look really dire.

I was hoping for him to go out like Tony Montana.

Scala, head of FIFA’s audit and compliance committee, is urging Blatter not to consider back-tracking on that pledge. The 79-year-old Blatter has already reneged on a 2011 promise to leave office in 2015.
“For me, the reforms are the central topic,” Scala said in a statement. “That is why I think it is clearly indispensable to follow through with the initiated process of leadership change as it has been announced.”

Who is a bigger villain, Blatter or Putin? Serious question.

Pretty sure Blatter's actions aren't contributing to the deaths of thousands of people.

Yeah, but i don't think he's responsible for the labor deaths to the scale that Putin is responsible for straight up war deaths.
It's not as direct.

Putin easily. His propaganda is way more effective.

America has as many social & economic problems as Russia, if not more. And America's military is just as guilty for killing people as Russia's military, if not more. America had no business in Iraq.
Really, the only difference is there are ethnic Russians in Crimea and East Ukraine that WANT to be a part of Russia. Crimea is historically Russian land, so you can at least understand Russia's motives. America's wars, not so much.
I'm not saying what Putin is doing is correct, but the West are not saints by any stretch.
Blatter is a dumb-dumb there is no question there. It's a sad, sad reality that slaves are being used to build up the 2022 WC and will likely be used again to tear it all down once the WC leaves.
