I disagree. If the conference finals in 2014 had ended differently, Chicago would likely be an actual dynasty right now.

2010
2013
2014 (they would have beat the Rangers)
2015 (assuming they hold on and beat the Lightning)

It's not impossible, because Chicago was literally one win away from it last year. You don't need to change the definition of a dynasty just because of the salary cap. It's supposed to be a rare thing.

Hard to criticize a coach that gets his team to the Stanley Cup finals but when you have the highest scoring team in the league in the regular season I simply don't see why you would play such a conservative system in the playoffs. It seems like the Lightning's game plan since game one of the series was to simply score the first goal and hang on for the victory. Strange how he's so conservative with Stamkos ice time instead of playing him a lot when they are down by a goal or tied.

Any news on Kucherov? His injury changes the dynamic of the "triplets", especially as Johnson seems to have some kind of hand problem (at least, that would explain why he isn't taking draws)

I decided to take the week off, so that I could watch tonight's and if needed, Wednesday night's games live...and then have time to sleep off...hopefully...a celebration!

Could be in the lineup tonight

Following the morning skate, Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper said injured forward Nikita Kucherov — who exited Game 5 in the first period after crashing into the Chicago net — was “probable” for tonight’s Game 6 at the United Center.

Can't stand all the Bolts fans that are talking about how TBL came back to win game 6 and 7 in '04. Go Hawks, finish it up tonight!

Good business for scalpers in Chicago.

Most expensive ticket sold so far on stub hub is $10 000. Lots of tickets listed for $25k

Very odd indeed. They look so passive, giving up the zone with ease and just willing to collapse to the middle. They also make a lot of mental mistakes that their skill seems to bail them out of. It is only when they get their feet moving and get in on a forecheck do they create any pressure. I get that Chicago is a very deep team and Cooper is probably trying to spread out his team a little but the use of Stamkos is mind boggling. How does a scratched rookie take over top line minutes after the injury and not your best player?

Before the cap era you had a succession of dynasties with the Canadiens in the early 70's followed by the Islanders in the late 70's into the 80's and then the Oilers. Today with league parity and not being able to buy a championship and or keep all of your best players, we are only now seeing it as a rare thing.

As much as I have been rooting for the Bolts to take it all after the Flames lost to Anaheim, I doubt Chicago doesn't finish it off tonight.
They do seem unstoppable and deserve to raise the cup at home.

Such a different style of play in the finals for TB, I can't understand it.

You would think given that the Hawks are riding four defensemen that the Lightning would try to take the game to them and keep the pace high over the series to wear them down but instead they have been content to play at a snails pace which is letting them off the hook.

I agree. Hawks had some rough bumps at the beginning of the series that I stared at my TV and was boggled that they couldn't seem to do anything right. A lot of times in this series you saw both teams get a goal and then all the momentum starts swinging their way and they really drive the play. It's been a thing more-so with Tampa because I think Chicago has the experience to be a little more consistent.

I was really excited for this series thinking we were going to see some fast, high paced hockey. Nope. There really hasn't been a lot of back and forth going on at all.

I am a firm believer in sticking with what got you to the dance. Cooper just getting out coached? I don't know.

I am all for Chicago ending this tonight.

Kucherov probable for tonite's game according to Cooper. I figured he had a broken collar bone.

Edit: already mentioned.

Here's merriam webster's definition of dynasty:

: a family of rulers who rule over a country for a long period of time; also : the period of time when a particular dynasty is in power

: a family, team, etc., that is very powerful or successful for a long period of time

Even though the cups aren't all in succession, I think the 2nd definition still fits.

If the Hawks win I will certainly call them a modern day dynasty, and just to be extra annoying I will pronounce it the british way like Tywin Lannister. (Din-a-stee).

I hear ya. I want their fan base to know how it feels to lose in the Stanley cup finals. Pricks.

It is forgone to me then that the Hawks will win tonight. A cup clinching home win for the first time in 77 years? Yeah, it is going to happen. The Madhouse on Madison is going to go off!
