For those who thought the rumors about Sprong were immaterial, a Kings scout publicily rips Sprong (translation by google)http://www.rds.ca/hockey/lnh/un-prob...tude-1.2438491
	Quote:

		| However, access to the National League is never performed without pitfalls and the golf Sprong is tainted by some concern about his behavior. Some sources surveyed by the RDS.ca in recent days have confirmed the rumor that runs on it and some stakeholders did not mince their words against him.
"This is his environment (his family) that hurt him and his personal attitude. It is above the team, "said, bluntly, the recruiter of the Los Angeles Kings, Denis Fugère.

"His body language on the ice is poor enormously. Sometimes he wants to do everything by itself and it is impossible in hockey today. Even Steven Stamkos and Wayne Gretzky used their teammates and Daniel does not seem to grasp it. It is bounded, it is unfortunate, "he added.
 |
To be fair the article then goes on to say that not all scouts share this view

I'm barely paying attention to hockey buzz right now, but I did see one of the Flames.com writers (Torie maybe) have the Flames picking Kylington. Please, stay the hell away from him with that pick.

I don't think you have to worry about the Flames picking kids with questionable character.

I'd be quite pleased walking away with Merkley, Svechnikov or Konecny. Of course that's assuming if Connor/Rantanen/Meier aren't on the board.

I'm going to go ahead and add on Guryanov now too. Risk seems to be worth it IMO.

The more I read about Konecny, the more I want him in a Flames uniform but it sounds like LA is high on him as well.
Guryanov is intriguing as well if he's anything like the sniper he's projected to be. Who couldn't use an elite sniper?

With all of our picks and the depth of talent, this is going to be an interesting draft.

Looks like 7pm EDT; like you I hope it kicks off right away at that time and that there isn't too much of a preamble as I don't want to have to stay up all night!

Based on last year's Draft thread: Bettman took the stage at about 5:13pm MT. The first pick was made around 5:20pm MT. The final pick of the first round was made around 8:15pm MT.

Is it? Is his additional potential worth the additional downside? I don't think it is.

With the 15th overall pick in a deep draft you NEED to make sure you walk away with a player.

Manage the risk.

Yeah, Svechnikov and Provorov are the only Russians I would be considering.

If we walk away with one of Connor, Konecny, Chabot or Zboril at 15, that would be great. So many great players that I don't really have a preference.

I've just wasted most of my lunch hour researching prospects' favourite NHL teams and the only one I've found who is a Flames fan seems to be Ryan Pilon. Accordingly, he is the only player deserving to be drafted.
From NHL.com's profile on Timo Meier:

I love the idea of getting D in the first 2 rounds (unless a forward from the top 10 falls into our lap) Chabot, Zboril, Carlo and the others all look really good. I'd love if we could get 1 or 2 of the higher end guys like that. I still think it would be amazing if we could sell our souls to get one of Hanafin or Proverov.
