Didn't Ferland show he can be the Flames' Lucic during the playoffs? I'd rather go with Ferland and roll the dice.
I loved what he did, but it was only over 1 playoff series, then he got hurt (Freak accident but still)

He could easily be a career 4th liner who scores 4-7 goals a year.

That's because top 5 players in their prime are rarely traded, last one was Gretzky I guess, Malkin is no Gretzky but he would get a lot in a trade.

Gretzky trade:

19 year old Jimmy Carson(#2 overall pick) coming off 107 points.
18 year old Martin Gelinas (#7 overall pick) just drafted
Three 1st round picks
$15 million (about $25m now days)

Gretzky(27), McSorley(25) and Krushelnyski(28)

And even then, it's impossible to compare that to a Malkin trade since you cant trade money anymore...

no one has jumped on this so I will. how small is the market?

SJ - probably looking with Niemi supposedly on way out and Stalock is not the solution

Dallas - making Lehtonen available - but imagine they'd want to send him our way for Hiller

Carolina - same as Dallas, but with Cam Ward

STL - Treliving reportedly offered Hiller for Jake Allen. Non starter from STL perspective, but perhaps interest there. Probably have to take Brian Elliott back

WPG - maybe but probably want to send Pavelec back

Minny - maybe if Dubnyk prices himself out of market

Edmonton - possible but unlikely as they are looking younger

Phoenix - would have to take Smith's contract back

Philly - they are always looking

Buffalo - they need someone but probably someone younger

So that's 10 teams, but which of those 10 would actually view Hiller as an upgrade over what they have? That probably drops it down a bit. And a few of those teams might want to send a G back - is Treliving willing to accept one? Complicated with Vancouver supposedly shopping Lack and some of the goalies listed above being made available. Only way I can see a deal is for another goalie, perhaps one listed above.

Lucic makes 6m now, how is 5.5 an over payment?

He isn't taking a UFA contract for less than he makes now. If he was willing to take a paycut he would just resign with BOS.

If Hiller is moved. DAL, CAR and STL make the most sense to me. Dallas needs to figure out if they have something in Campbell, doesn't look like it. I am a Kari Lehtonen fan. I wonder if he would do well in Calgary.

STL knows they have something in Allen. Elliott has the right Cap and term to fit CGY's needs. Could bust badly in CGY though. numbers weren't great comparatively to Hillers.

We've been over Ward a lot recently.

In the playoffs yes, but in the regular season he didn't show much more than being a bottom 6 role player. Lucic does it all year. You'd have to be nuts to choose Ferland over Lucic in my opinion. I say this as a huge Ferland fan.

And why not have both guys? Could you imagine how insane Bieksa would go if he had to deal with Lucic on top of Ferland? If the Bruins call and ask for Poirier and Wotherspoon for Lucic I probably make that trade.

adurr, typo.

6.5

I can't imagine he gets more than that unless he scores 30.

You roll out Lucic on line one.

Bouma on line 2.

Ferland on Line 3.

Opposition defenders commence Pants Pooing.

ROR is a second line centre seeking 7 million per and he;s UFA soon. He is not worth more than moving up 6 spots in a very deep draft. You are incorrect.

The hosts on that radio show had it correct that he could be had for that 24th overall pick.

So what is a #3 Dman in Pahaneuf who is 30 and paid like a number 1 for 6 more years worth?

How much does Smith make and what's the term? Gotta think that if the Coyotes can save some money here they will do it. For the Flames if they can wrangle a pick out of it too that would be best.

That $13.9m cap space St. Louis have left is going to get eaten up pretty quickly when they sign Tarasenko and Allen. Can see them trading someone at the draft to move up. Berglund or Oshie maybe.

I'd rather gamble on Poirier and Wotherspoon than have 1 year of overpaid Lucic, especially in a year that probably won't mean much. It would be different if we were serious contenders looking for that piece to push us over the top.

No thanks from my perspective. We will end up getting two good players instead of just one.

Third draft of the rebuild, keep the two highest picks IMO. I figure the 52 and 53 picks are a little flexible to play with.

Other than daddy so far no Reinhart has shown he can be a good NHL player.

I'd like to keep them all and draft defensemen with all three second round picks.
