No to Hodgson he doesn't fit this team at all. I see him going to the Leafs if he is bought out though.
If Malkin is traded I think the Blues make the most sense. Backes, Oshie, and Bouw for Malkin and Dumolin?

Why?

He's going to be 34 on his next deal. Sign him for 2 years? So he's 36 and/or gone when the Flames become legitimate contenders?

Keep Hudler instead. Who will probably cost the same, was more productive, is younger, a known commodity, great with the young guys and has chemistry with Johnny and Monny.

Don't need or want Sharp.

stated more murmurs of leafs contemplating doing something with their #1 pick
 To Colorado:
 4th overall, phaneuf

 To Toronto:
10th overall, O'Reilly (suggested leafs really like rantanen and think they could grab him at 10).

 Pure speculation, but interesting nonetheless.

Friedman on the Fan thinks there is a small market for Hiller, reiterates that he wouldn't be surprised if we have two new goalies next season.

You misunderstood, chill.

He's signed for 2 more years, Chicago needs cap space, we could use a right winger and perhaps they can sweeten the deal.

I'm not saying want or need, but I could see Treliving pull that kind of deal as we're pretty thin on the right side.

I'm not wound up in any way.

I hear you - I don't agree and it's contrary to everything he's been saying.

We will see! Would rather have him than Kessell haha

THat is a terrible deal for TO. Rantanen won't be there at 10 and the Leafs are supposed to be scorched earth rebuilding.

It's a terrible deal for Colorado. Phaneuf is basically a salary dump, and O'Reilly is worth way more than moving up from 10th to 4th overall.

Would we go with Lehner and Ortio and run with a really young tandem...I kind of find that hard to believe.

This was on the radio show they host and they were literally just talking about would it ever make sense to deal #4 and the guy came up with a totally hypothetical deal form Reilly. I posted it earlier in the thread.

There was no Toronto is comtemplating this. It was made up as a discussion trade on would it EVER make sense to deal #4

The goaltending situation is something to watch for sure next season with us. Not sure how much Lehner will cost us to acquire but I wouldn't mind getting him (depending on cost) he's still young at 23 and has good size for a tender.
Hiller - I wouldn't mind seeing him moved, just don't know what the return would be unless Carolina does something around Cam Ward and a pick.

Ramo - Gut feeling says he will most likely be signed by another team on July 1, that would be a nice birthday gift for himself by getting a FA contract.

Ortio - I don't think you can leave him in the minors, he is ready for a backup role and his contract is a one-way.

I'd like to see us go after Lehtonen. He has his inconsistencies, but I blame a whole lot of that on Dallas' horrible defense.
A Lehtonen/Ortio duo would be a good tandem.

Remember Lehtonen in Atlanta? Not a Dallas issue. Its a goaltender issue. Problems just follow him, in my opinion.

If Malkin is traded if won't be for two 31 year olds and a 28 year old who does jack come playoff time.

Malkin is 28 and one of the best players in the league. you want him think two top young roster players and a 1st round pick...at least.

From Calgary it would probably take Monahan, Brodie and a 1st

I would take a flyer on Lehtonen if he just had a year left, but he has 3 more seasons @ nearly $5.9 million. Pass from me.

I've never seen a team give up that much for any player.
