Well just a matter of time until both are caught. I am pretty sure once they catch one of them, they'll turn the other out right quick. I am sure this kid will go with the "I told him to stop" and plea deal on his accomplice. Hopefully they both get serious time.

You have to be either seriously high on something, or a cold blooded murderer to have a woman on your hood and keep going. They didn't stop, they just kept going. Just messed up people.

			Update from CPS Facebook
"Update - Gas drive off resulting in hit-and-run
Following the release of video and pictures yesterday, tips from the public have resulted in us tentatively identifying one of the suspects. The passenger is believed to be a minor and therefore we have removed his images from The City of Calgary Newsroom as well as our social media.
Investigators are continuing to locate both men. The two suspects are described as Caucasian males with a slim build. The driver has brown hair and the passenger has blond hair."

Awesome. Kid will be caught and out after 6 months of juvie, where he will no doubt get tips on how to be a better criminal from the other kids. Also, if you take his picture down, how the hell are you supposed to find the culprit? Young offenders have WAY too many chances to re-offend...

Ultimately the driver committed the biggest offense here however.

One of them is under 18, so won't be doing any serious time under our judicial system.

Hopefully he is right on the cusp and can be tried as an adult based on the severity of the crime (Attempted Murder / Murder)

			Brutal.
I hope that's classified under murder and not some manslaughter nonsense.

Yeah, I don't see it as any different than a guy shooting a clerk while robbing a place.

			Tragic news.
I think they have a strong case to make for 2nd degree murder. Of course, I'm hardly a law expert.

I'm pretty sure it will be a murder charge for the driver.

It will be dangerous driving cause death/criminal negligence cause death. Won't be murder, would get hung up on proving intent.

RIP, Maryam. I hope it will pre-meditated murder for the driver and charge the rider as an adult accomplice.

That's kind of what 2nd degree is for however, as it was murder without premeditation. It's quite likely it will get pleaded down to manslaughter/negligence causing death though.

1st degree murder = planned, intent to murder
2nd degree = not planned, intent to murder
Manslaughter = not planned/ no intent to murder.

As much as people don't like it, this won't be a 2nd degree murder. It will be a driving\negligence cause death. If it's an adult, probably somewhere around 5-6 years jail.

Hard to classify this as a robbery. Theft sure, robbery, I don't know about that.

I guess it would depend on what the crown wants to seek (and what they think they can successfully prosecute). Witnesses describe it as them thinking about what to do, then choosing to run her down.

That sounds like intent to me.

How is running over the person that is trying to stop you with a 2 ton truck NOT intent?
