Congratulations to the Toronto Argonauts, you were the biggest sports story in the city of Toronto for about 15 minutes this morning.
Ricky Foley has gone on a rant on Twitter about the timing of the Babcock hiring and the general treatment of the Argos: https://twitter.com/Foley4Real
Quote:
- Dick move announcing Babcock news the day #Argos r finally sold. Guess some people still jealous we the only team who wins in this city @CFL
- I feel sorry 4T.O sports fans...Every yr hype 4teams who don't EVER win...Spending $ 2come see mostly Foreigners play with no heart/effort
- I'll tell you one thing these CDN #CFL boys don't claim 'wetheNORTH' then head home to the south during off seasons... #NBA
- And our Captains and vet leaders don't play like a bunch of soft ass punks with no emotion or passion for the game or its fans... #NHL
- So congrats on Ur new coach @MapleLeafs...Hopefully 50mil & sky high ticket prices r enough 2give Ur players heart & a compete level #CFL
- 4the record been a HUGE Leaf/Raptor 4ever...Just sick of SOME players lack of heart/effort yet WE fans pay big$ 2C them &treat #CFL like poo

Winnipeg gave up its first round pick in next year's draft after taking Garrett Waggoner in the supplemental draft. Think its a steep price... a top 3 pick for a DB/LB. Then again BC had him on their neg list as an American so they thought he could compete.

"All of us at You Can Play are excited to see Michael Sam taking the next step in his football career as a member of the Montreal Alouettes. We have been standing alongside Michael from the beginning. From his coming out on campus at the University of Missouri after a You Can Play event, to his public coming out, throughout this frustrating past season. We are excited to be a small part of his next step. Thanks to our partners at the Canadian Football League (CFL), Michael will be able to showcase the talents and abilities that made him an All-American and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

Interesting. He was a legit player at Missouri -- would seem to fit in better in the three-down game.
P.S. Week 1 is Montreal vs. Mo Price and the Ottawa Renegades. Just sayin'...

I think he's smaller but fast. Hard to play D-line in the NFL if you're not a genetic freak.

Sam was to small/weak for the line and to slow to be a linebacker. But I could see him fitting in very well in the CFL.

Hey guys I thought I would throw this up here.
Our site's podcast managed to get Huf as a guest, we got to sit in his office and basically drink beer and interview him.
Probably one of the best guests that we've had.
And they've all been great
http://www.cflhorsemen.ca/2015.html
Some of the other off season shows are also there including a great show with Jean and Molly
I'll put up the 2014 page here as well we had some great guests last season as well
http://www.cflhorsemen.ca/2014.html
Some of the guests
Bo Levi Mitchell (Bo knows Podcasting)
Rob Maver
Now NFL'er Shawn Lemon
Dan Federkeil (He stuck around for over 2 hours)
Cory Mace (always a great interview, I think he's been on three times)
Nik Lewis
Spenser Wilson
Enjoy

What's with media hyping the Michael Sam signing so much? Is he really that good? Or just cause he's gay and cfl is trying to get some positive publicity?

It is due to his sexual preference, it's kinda sad.

Sam is big news, like it not, because of his sexuality. Today on TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/als-welcome-trail-...e-sam-1.291827
Quote:
After he came out, Sam's NFL jersey was an instant bestseller in the U.S. The Alouettes already put his No. 94 sweater on sale on its website for $139.95.

Lions ask McCallum to retire:
http://blogs.theprovince.com/2015/06...lum-to-retire/
Quote:
The oldest player in the CFL was asked in the afternoon by general manager Wally Buono to retire when coach Jeff Tedford made the determination that the Lions kicking needs can be handled by the American tandem of Richie Leone and Anthony Fera.
Nobody was saying much about what took place, but McCallum’s locker stall had been cleared out and the 23-year veteran had headed home to the Lower Mainland. He’ll be given a few days to determine if he would like the Lions to release him so he can try to latch on with another team, or retire.

Paul McCallum should dump some feces on Jeff Tedford's neighbors driveway...
/I kid, I kid, fine career for McCallum.
