Sharks Fire Head Coach Randy Carlyle
Per the press release today
Quote:
SHARKS FIRE HEAD COACH RANDY CARLYLE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Jose, CA (CPHL Press) – The San Jose Sharks announced today that they have relieved Head Coach Randy Carlyle from his coaching duties effective immediately.
“After the results of last season, the change in the GM position and the accelerated rebuild going on in San Jose, we do not feel that Carlyle is the right fit for the organization anymore” said Sharks GM Drury18. “During our year end exit interviews and analysis of the team, we did not believe keeping Randy on as coach is in the best interests of the team. We wish him the best in future endeavors”.
The Sharks finished a disappointing 35-39-1-7 this season, down from the 2013-14 season which also saw them finish in the bottom 10 teams in the league. One of the few bright spots on the season was James Neal who was the 3rd best LW in points in the CPHL and Christian Ehrhoff who was 7th in blocked shots and played top minutes in the league. The Sharks also closed out the year strong going 7-3 in their last 10 games.
“Frankly, the Sharks are tired of losing and we want to give our fans something to cheer about. We have moved out assets like Chris Kunitz, Brandon Saad, Shea Theodore and Travis Sandheim along with a handful of 1st and 2nd round picks to bring in players like Marian Gaborik, Ryan McDonagh, Jimmy Howard, Michal Neuvirth and Michael Frolik. These players give an immediate boost to our team and will be counted on to be key contributors and leaders to the team. We are also committed to drafting and creating a solid core of prospects which can be developed to move up to our CPHL team”.
The Sharks do not have an immediate replacement for the Head Coach job, but are rumoured to be interviewing former Abbotsford Heat coach Troy G. Ward, former Oilers interim head coach Todd Nelson and former New Jersey Devils captain and enforcer Scott Stevens for the job. The Sharks GM denied any rumours about considering Peter DeBoer for the job. “No, DeBoer is not someone we have been in talks with or are considering. He is not on our list”.

Haha...I love this.
Have always wondered how this works. I know the coach doesn't effect the team at all, but have always just wanted to can McLellan.
Are there other coaches in the pool that you just choose from?
Can I convince Scotty Bowman to come out of retirement?

I'm truly hoping something like this for Carlyle
I'm not sure though. There is a "Fire Coach" button so I used that to fire him. Once he clears, there is a "Hire Coach" button and I'm guessing I put in a name and picture and hire a new coach. You probably just can't hire from the ones already employed (I have a list if you would like, I had to make one to figure out who I could get potentially), but anyone else should be free game.
And Scotty won't come out of retirement, I asked. Begged actually.

Love it.
Someone (read: someone with more time than I) should hire a fictional coach and write up a full bio

Gretzky's second chance?
I chuckled a bit seeing this thread as I asked about this exact thing a couple days ago. Hate seeing Torts' smug face on my roster page.

Not with the Sharks. Him and Roy are pre-banned from the coaching position!

Whats the penalty for firing your coach?
I was gonna can Todd, but a warning came up about being penalized and I'm not sure what it means.

The penalty is not being able to trade with Da_Chief for the next 4 months.

The tags on this thread are great.
I wonder how many CPHL press release threads catch general forum users off guard

I've told this story before but some years ago, we were contacted by a charity. They were organizing an event and was hoping that one of our players could attend. I think it was Andrew Ference but I might have that wrong.
Anyways we had to politely decline and inform them that they were, in fact, talking to a fantasy hockey league, not a real one.

Bump:
I fired my coach and want to hire one that's not on the list (Jon Cooper)
His freaking name is Jon...without an H!!!
SOLD.
How can I make this happen?
Also..was tempted to hire Pat Quinn, as he is on he list, but that felt wrong.

Since coaches don't impact this game it isn't really a priority - we can get to this type of housekeeping thing later in the off-season. Right now free agency and contracts are where our focus is.

I thought you were totally joking.
Imagine my surprise when I sent in the request, only to be told that:
"Avs got in the request for cooper ahead of you - so please select another one."
Filthy move, and I love it.
We ended up asking Benoit Groulx to make the jump to the NHL.
If that doesn't work, John Stevens is flying coast to coast.
