Default My trip report on rock climbing in Greece

I debated for a while on posting this for a bit last year, but sitting here reminiscing on doing this last year, I thought I'd share a story and maybe some cool photos about a my honeymoon last year, my wife and I did a climbing route up the prominent pinnacle in Meteora, Greece. The setting was amazing, similar to parts of Nepal with monasteries built into the cliffs and small caves where hermits would go into to spent the rest of their lives in meditation. Along side some of these were established (i.e. bolted) routes up these formations.

On the same trip, I also discovered what is probably my favorite place in the world, Kalymnos in Greece. A few pictures up there too.

Hope you enjoy my trip report

My nephew would be envious of rock climbing in Greece. I should send him a link to your postings.

You did an excellent job of articulating your trip and took some awesome photos. Sounds like you and your wife had a great time and adventure in Greece!

Amazing photos. I've always wanted to rock climb but never had the opportunities. Just signed my 6 year old for lessons at our local climbing wall gym place thingy. He's super excited.

Fun trip. Just wondering what kind of rock that is. Looks cool. Run out like Snake Dike is a great way to start married life!

If you like the monasteries check out Alkis Astras, a very famous Greek painter. Beautiful beyond words,

Even though rock climbing is not my cup of tea, those are some beautiful shots.

Its pretty much dried mud keeping cementing river stones... and lots of moss. It was hardly bomb proof granite I was used to, I didn't trust the bolts worth a #### (not even the anchors).

My wife and I share lots of climbing epics together. 1 month into dating, we epic'ed and slept at the top of Royal Arches in Yosemite. The day I proposed, I accidentally kicked her in the eye while she was giving me a spot. Etc etc... haha.
