I would be perfectly happy to use the last 3rd on Janko's brother.

Curious, why do you say that?
What is impressive about his game?

Thanks for the insult.
Teravainen was a consensus top 10 pick in most of the mock drafts that year, and everyone was surprised he slid so far.
I know I for one was screaming his name when we had the pick at #14.

He is a good offensive center that is likely headed to the NCAA much like Mark. Depending on which school he would go to he would have more than enough time to develop like his brother. Any time you can get a decent offensively talented center that is 6-1 in the back half of the third round, that's never a bad thing. Like everything, it would depend on who is on the board at 75 and 83, but he would at least be on the list of those to consider.
Plus with how the prospect pool is currently I would much rather the Flames have a few projects taken in this draft that will take a few years to develop. The prospect pool for the players that are in developmental leagues is very thin with only Jankowski, Hickey, McDonald, and Rafikov being notable. Once the current log jam gets worked out, there isn't much to replace the existing group. Having some decent prospects spaced out so they can add guys to the AHL rosters in 2018 will help the Flames to avoid the Blackhawks 2011 and 2012 downturn after losing a bunch of guys with nothing much to replace them.
I am similarly interested in Erik Foley because he's headed to the NCAA, and coincidentally Providence next year

Likewise brother. I had been on the Teravainen hype train leading into the draft and was stunned and crushed when we traded back to #21

Eric Foley has huge upside regardless of being a Friar.

If the info i'm pulling online is correct: He's a right-shooting 6'1 (used to be tiny, but then had a growth spurt.. where have I heard that before...?), high-IQ center with excellent vision and plenty of skill who elected to go the high school route after being undrafted into major junior and is now Stanstead College's star player. That's a very enticing package for our top 6 future RW.

Wowwww.... Can we please just wait until Jankowski plays a game of professional hockey before anointing Teravainen the better selection and stating we completely missed the boat...??? It's seriously getting old. They've taken different paths and we all knew from day one Jankowski was a project.

Fair enough!
Should we also expect Teravainen to get worse while Jankowski gets better?

What exactly has Teuvo Teravainen proven exactly? That in these playoffs he can put up some numbers when on a third line, featuring a very good 2nd line centre, a highly skilled 1st line winger, and probably the best offensive defenseman the league has seen since Lidstrom?
Oh, I guess it's because of the drool-worthy skill he's showing:
Clearly plays Jankowski can't make (Three soft goals)
Heck, that pass is nice - yet isn't even as impressive as some of the passes Jankowski was making in the Frozen Four.
The guy hasn't even lit up the AHL. HIs 25 points in 39 AHL games have an NHLE of 23.
Know what Jankowski's NHLE is, Jankowski the bust whose numbers suck? 24.5.
So far Teravainen's NHL production isn't exactly amazing. Hot playoffs, yes. But overall he has 17 points in 47 games. If that were Sven we'd be begging for him to be sent down. He might not even be as good a winger as Granlund, only we insist on keeping Granlund at center between plugs to lose faceoffs.

I didn't insult you, I said your comment was kinda dumb.
It's been rehashed a million times in this thread alone so I won't go into it, but by 14 there's no consensus and that's borne out by what actually occurred

Pretty sure a lot of posters would like to believe differently but a huge difference between D1 college and the NHL. 17 points in 47 games.... As a 20 yr old on a Stanley Cup finalist?
Yep...really impressive,

No, what people should do is quit *****ing and moaning about a pick that has yet to turn pro but has by all accounts had a strong season and is turning into a very well rounded 200 foot player.
News flash, we didn't draft Teravainen... Get over it, move on and maybe spend a bit of time actually watching the guy we did draft instead of just basing your opinions on the fact player 'x' has played NHL games while player 'y' hasn't yet.

Pretty funny that you are unwilling to admit there is more than a quantum leap between D1 college and playing on one of the best teams in the NHL.
Carry on.

You do realize career AHLer Kyle Cuminsky is playing on that team right now too, right?

So are Kyle Cuminsky and David Rundblad. So did Brandon Bollig a few years ago.

I'm not doubting Teravainen will be a good player, but to discredit Jankowski when he hasn't even turned pro is just people looking for something to complain about...

Both are/ were very fringe players.
Teravainen was a star tonight in the SCF.
