I'm in Girly!

Got tickets for the QF in Ottawa! Selfishly hoping it's a Canada USA battle!

Was listening to an interview with keeper Karina LeBlanc on Prime Time Sports yesterday and am now getting excited. So thrilled that Canada is hosting this and hopeful towards Canada's success, particularly after London 2012. It would be great if there's a collision with the USA down the road.

I recommend everyone watch the documentary on this team, "Rise: 2015 Women's World Cup". It's on TSN now and I it suspect will be again. I'm stoked now. Go Canada.

Canada vs England is starting in 20 mins on TSN1.

It's a friendly, but a number of Canada's regulars are in the lineup. Melissa Tancredi is celebrating her 100th cap and is wearing the arm band. Canada's back line is a bit bruised and battered though. Josee Belanger, normally a striker, is going to play fullback. Erin McLeod is in goal.

England's playing with their B-ish squad.

As long as Canada comes out of this healthy, everything will be fine. Their WWC opener is a week and a day away.

For those coming up to Edmonton for the game, Weathernetwork is suggesting 25 and sunny for Saturday.

I really hope Canadians turn out and pack the stadium for all of the games.

Will be there w/ the family. Canada jersey for the first game, Oranje shirt for the second. Should be a good time.

Questions about Commonwealth for those in the know

- Is there parking around there or is it better to take transit?
- Are you allowed to bring in your own water / snacks?

40k+ expected for the opener Saturday. Thursday's match, at the moment, is looking about 25k, but more tickets will sell before then.

Hope everyone can make it out!

Not sure about the snacks but definitely take the LRT.

Global says 500 million people will watch the games on Saturday, I'm assuming that will be the most watched sporting event ever in Canada, if not some game later on will be.

I live about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Commonwealth.

Parking is limited at the best of times and it is worse now. There is also considerable road construction and repair in the area. There is zero doubt that LRT is your best route.

Ticket sales now up to 46,000 for game 1.

Should be. Tv was very limited in in 1976 and Winter Olympics are still small relative to soccer worldwide. The 2010 Olympic hockey final drew 20 million viewers in Canada and 30 million in the US, and probably a few more million elsewhere. Nowhere near 500 million.
