Staal lands in Minny

The Wild are pleased to announce the acquisition of Marc Staal. He joines the club along with the 16th overall pick in exchange for the 7th overall selection a year ago in the NHL, Hayden Fleury, and the 9th overall selection 2 years ago - Bo Horvat. No cap was exchanged in the deal.

GM Farhall:
"Marc immediately will step into our top 2 pairing along with our captain Justin Faulk - allowing Dougie (Hamilton) and Hampus (Lindholm) to continue their strong growth on the 2nd pairing. We will likely have two spots open in camp for a couple of youngsters to step up and grab. We except a competitive battle.

Tried to capitalize on his love of Shinkaruk first - but even Canuck fans are beginning to realize he's a bum.

Thanks to Grant for the easy going trade talks. This trade frees up some cap space and I get 2 young players who will become very good players in this league. I am not going to be around much for the draft so I figured I should get something for it and no one better then superstar Bo Horvat.

Also I still believe in Shinkaruk, just think he's a few years away from being a consistent 40 goal scorer in this league.
