I don't go to tim hortans because it's Canadian and fills some sense of patriotism, and it always makes me laugh when people say that about it. I go there because it's convenient. That's it. That's the only reason. I prefer McDonald's coffee and A&W breakfast food by miles, but they're not always nearby whereas Tim Hortans is everywhere.
I only get coffee though, maybe a bagel. Any of their sandwiches are trash. I really do wonder how they get their bread to taste like foamy rubber

I always find it weird when people tell other people why they are doing something. Oh they just like it because of this and this... how the fata do you know why they do what they do? Did they explicitly state it as such? No? Then you're probably wrong.

Convenience doesn't cut it for me any more, I'll drive out of the way rather than visit a Tim Hortons.
Slow service, lousy coffee and their "food" items have the taste and consistency of cardboard. And it isn't even that cheap anymore.
No thanks.

You may not, but there are a lot of people who tie patriotism to Tim Horton's because they've been fooled by marketing.

Anyone who thinks marketing/advertising doesn't have an affect on people's decision making is naive. There's a reason why a corporation like Coke spends around 3 BILLION dollars a year to remind you of a product that everyone on earth knows exists. It's not always the primary reason for how we shop, but it can have a massive influence.

I haven't gone to a BK for breakfast in ages, but if they still have the Croissanwich, they're definitely ahead of Tim Hortons (maybe even ahead of McDonald's). I do agree with you that A&W and McDonald's are miles ahead of Tim's.
I've said this before, but Tim Hortons is the only place I can think of whose food doesn't even look appetizing in their advertising.

I don't drink coffee so I very rarely have a need to go Tim Hortons. The one time a year I go there for a muffin or a donut, I realize why I hate it so much after standing in line for 15 minutes.

The "convenience" really is just laziness. I used to carpool with a girl who always insisted at stopping at Tim's every day on the way in. She would literally drive by (or have me drive by) completely legitimate options so that we could sit in a line-up, sometimes right out onto the road, so she could get a coffee and muffin. Coffee Time was right across the street and sold the same stuff. I swear it is indoctrination for most people.
Not to mention, most cities have mom and pop diners all over the place that sell coffee and breakfast. They might not have brand recognition, but they are just as good and fast usually. Most people drive right past them as if it isn't even an option.

My sister and I went to Tim's in NYC in 2013... it was a cup of hot garbage. Tim's coffee is already barely drinkable, it was downright disgusting in the US. Not sure why it would be so different but it definitely was. We both took sips, looked at each other, and dumped the rest in the garbage.

I actively seek out diners, smaller restaurants and the like. The more independent operations have by far the best food and beverage in the city.

I've never understood why people would wait in line for 15 minutes at a Tim Horton's drive-thru, rather than go to the nearest McDonald's, and get arguably better coffee, and a breakfast sausage in a couple of minutes.
The only reason I go to Tim Horton's is for their Iced Cappuccinos. I'm beginning to cut back on that as well.

I have never driven to a Tim's. Ever. Always walked, and always walked from work. People are vastly underestimating the impact of a location on every corner.
And to me it's competitor is Subway, whose food is absolute trash.

I like Subway food. It's at least healthy. What I cannot stand is all the other fast food locations (Wendy's Arby's, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, etc), who serve "death food." Guaranteed to shorten your life expectancy.

I am with you AcGold, but I think that we are in the minority. I believe that the majority of the populace would rather get food of a quality they know (even if it is a poor quality) than try a place they don't know. In short fastfood place generally produce the same quality food from location to location.
I/my family have found some great places by stopping at little "mom & pop" places when travelling.
You know this might be a good thread topic, "Independent Restuarant MEGA Thread".

Subway can be healthy if you pick what goes on correctly, but most subs that are served there aren't. I find their food/sauces very saltie.

BLT with mayo instead of honey mustard on an everything bagel not toasted.
Best thing I've had at Tims.

For a few years now I like to order a breakfast bacon on a cheese croissant with chipotle sauce. Not the healthiest option but it is quite decadent. That being said, Tim Horton's irritates me more often than not. Ice Caps and the odd breakfast croissant are what keeps me going.

I like the Tim's Ham & Swiss even if it's a little on the salty side. The pepper ranch dressing they use is pretty tasty.

Probably, I only speak for myself. I don't go to Tim Hortons because it's Canadian, I go there because better options (of which there are many) are too out of the way.
It's like the people that try and tell me I only like the CFL because TSN tells me too.
