Clearly this is a coup to draft Mikko.

What is his projection?

Most likely a bottom pairing d-man at the NHL level, maybe a 7th d-man.

Toughest thing for him will be adjusting to the smaller ice.

Hopefully this plays out better than our last 27 year old Czech FA (Cervenka).

Ha, he wears Crosby's number.

Maybe that one guy in Calgary that has a Crosby Flames jersey can get a new namebar finally!!

Hmm, maybe he knows something we don't.

"Jakub Nakladal" yields 10,800 results on Google.
"Jakub Nakaldal" yields just 1... this thread.

If he can be a 6th/7th defenceman, I'll be happy.

He's somebody Wotherspoon will need to unseed if he wants to play with the Flames next season.

Well, I guess we know Potter's not gonna be in training camp.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie
CGY signing of Nakladal low risk. One-yr entry-level deal, which means two-way contract. If he doesn't make NHL team, his $ go to minors.

Since this Nakladal signing is a 2-way deal, does it mean that Wotherspoon will be a permanent healthy scratch now on the main roster?

That was already pretty much confirmed on garbage bag day. Hartley admitted to having to explain to Potter why they chose to use Wotherspoon over him in the exit interviews.

Nakladal (nuck-lah-dahl) is much more Czech sounding, so I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Makes the Diaz and Schlemko UFA conversations much more interesting... on a one year ELC, you'd have to think Nakladal will get the opportunity to prove himself before the year is done.

The premise is to make earning a spot as competitive as possible. Wothersoon still needs to walk into camp like he's going to own a spot with the big club. No matter who they bring in.

nice move... at worst another depth d man ready to step in... at best? maybe someone that can play meaningful minutes on the 3rd pairing and give them a viable 3rd pairing that actually plays legit minutes

Any word on Smid? If he is done and Diaz is not resigned, that would open the spots. Nakladal & Wotherspoon trade off.
