I'm still so angry that they won the McDavid lottery...

Maybe this is why he signed?

National Geographic lists Edmonton as one of the global places to be this summer.

Sorry, "meh" is always a pet peeve response for me on CP. It's basically like typing nothing, haha.

Yea, it's hard to criticize this. He's a real good coach.

I hate seeing the Oilers improve their upper management and coaching staff. Hopefully the on-ice product continues to suck! (but visual improvements are okay!)

Meh is an interjection used as an expression of indifference or boredom. It may also mean "be it as it may".[1] It is often regarded as a verbal shrug of the shoulders. The use of the term "meh" shows that the speaker is apathetic, uninterested, or indifferent to the question or subject at hand.

I'd say it was "Meh" as in "Oilers still suck"

Plus he'll have an incoming superstar that he can feed off of instead of Hallsy and Ebsy being the defacto top guys that past coaches have had to try to get past.

They were going to get their #### together sooner or later. Watching the Flames this season had to be painful and if that along with the lottery win didn't give them the jolt they needed then nothing would.

I used to like him as a head coach until today. He's got the toughest task of all the 30 head coaches in the league attempting to turn one of the all time biggest losers in professional sports into a winner. Hope for his career sake he knows what he's getting into. McDavid will be a great player but their problems are far deeper than one player.

I'm not that concerned about this. When push came to shove, he could never get the Sharks over the hump. For most of his tenure in SJ the Sharks amounted to less than the sum of their parts.

He's admittedly an upgrade on what they've had recently. Maybe the oilers will actually still be in the playoff picture at xmas this year.

It's still probably a better job than the leafs. And lower paid.

Leafs probably didn't make an offer though, because they think they will land BABWATCH.

I tend to agree. He has a team that appeared far more professional and willing to do what it took to win than the Oilers. And they never won anything. McLellan and McDavid will certainly make them more competitive but not nearly enough of a cultural revolution that is required. Not to mention that why would any other GM trade with Edm unless it's a clear win...they are almost guaranteed wins during the season. He may get help from the East Conf teams but no chance in the west.

It will be interesting to see how he does.

In San Jose, he took over a strong regular season team who couldn't win in the playoffs, and turned them into a strong regular season team who couldn't win in the playoffs.

Their best season under his guidance was his first season as their head coach. After that, they basically declined every season. They had a brief resurgence last season, but returned to their pattern of decline this season.

Let's see what he can do with a team that is absolutely horrible to start with.

I'm not even sure McLellan is that good of a coach, he had a star studded team for like a decade and couldn't take them past the 2nd round of the playoffs. The Sharks constantly underachieved while he was at the helm.

Wonder if he would've signed elsewhere without the prospect of mcdavid. This kinda sucks!
