Yes, it was a ######ed deal when they made it. It was never a good deal for the city of Glendale, there is no arguing that part of it, can they get out of it? Who knows, but yes, it was never a good decision.

It was a bad deal when they agreed to build the arena in the first place. They've just spent the last decade trying to fix that mistake.

I would love to see a team in Milwaukee. At one point of time, they were front runners for an expansion team. I'm not sure if Kansas City would be able to sustain an NHL team, but anything is possible.

Well that's unfortunate for the residents of Glendale that they are lacking essential services. The more important thing is that the NHL was able to keep a team out of the hands of Jim Balsillie. And that Bettman is indisputable ruler of all he surveys.

It seems inevitable that one or both of Detroit/Columbus will go back west once the Coyotes move on. I say add a 2nd Toronto area team ... one called the Maples and the others the Leafs. Give the Maples the blue and white, make the Leafs wear green. Split the fan base in two.

It's not simply the availability of an arena, there has to be a deep-pocketed owner willing to backstop a team.
Right now there appears to be 2 possibilities, LV and Quebec.

This team constantly at risk of relocating is more embarrassing for the NHL than actually moving the team. It never should've gotten to the point of the NHL owning the team.

Is that for real?. its been over 20 yrs. since I lived there and remember the old Keystone Center. I can recall lots of boarded up shops down on Princess Ave. and the rest of downtown.

Wait, they have their own jet? Do lots of NHL teams have this? I was under the impression that most teams chartered their flights.
Seems like they could cut costs, what with the crew, maintenance and fuel costs.

Pretty sure they don't own the jet. Some airlines brand the planes for sports team if they have a chartering contract

Agree with SL, but if there was a team that would own a jet, it would be the Coyotes. Fairly major boneyard for jets in Goodyear, AZ.

I'm pretty sure it's their own private plane. Usually if it was contracted there would be the logo of the operator as well. I know from seeing it, that it is a Boeing plane, so it could just be an unfortunate coincidence that it is in Seattle as it may just be in for servicing
