Can he be that much worse in CGY than Ramo or Hiller? My only thought on Ward and the Canes is that organization as a whole got stagnant since their cup run. everything they've tried to do since then has only kept them afloat.
Ward: .910 sv% 2.40 gaa on a bad canes team and 51 starts.
Hiller: .918 sv% 2.36 gaa. in 52 starts
Ramo: .912 sv% 2.60 gaa. on 34 starts
If age is you thing, Ward is only 30 vs Hillers who is 33 and Ramo who is 28. So I suppose it kind of balances itself out.
And cap hit: The Flames can easily eat Wards 6.3 cap hit for the lone season he will be under contract. And if I am not mistaken, the Canes want to clear cap even though they are floating in the bottom half of the league. So potentially a Hiller for Ward swap would be a favorable move for the Canes.
