I'm gonna go ahead and say it: That finale was better than Age of Ultron. And I liked Age of Ultron.
Just such a kickass finale. And so much to look forward to next season. How cool was it to see Mr. Hyde? And then to have him team up with Coulson? The actor did an amazing job with him. Just the right amount of crazy and passion.
They've also created a good alternative to the X-Men mutant program. It's too bad they can't work things out with Sony on that front, but with Terrigen in the food chain, I'm sure this will make due.
And who would've thought at the start of Season 1 that somehow Ward would end up leading Hydra by the end of Season 2?? In the immortal words of M. Night Shamalayan, what a twist!
Anyone have any clue as to what will happen to Simmons based on comic books?
This, along with Montreal getting the boot, made it a solid evening of TV!
Skye and Coulson forming a team of heroes with secret identities unlike the Avengers... is this going to be a story to parallel the upcoming Civil War?

That makes a lot of sense. That's probably why Skye and Coulson seemed to emphasize the need for anonymity right at the end there. I'm also expecting Ward is going to start trying to collect powered people as well. Secret underground Inhuman war would probably be a pretty strong lead-up to Civil War as well.

I think that this is unique to the comic book world. However with the secret powered people club forming, it almost feels like Simmons will come out as a powered hero, or with her slightly murderous tendencies lately a villain.
Whedon has always liked tucking on the heartstrings by making a hero into a villain. See Ward, Grant, and Rosenberg, Willow.
Damn I'm going to miss Cal, I laughed when he got shot multiple times with icers and laughed and stated that his legs had gone numb.
Spoiler!
And have we truly seen the end of Jai Ling, She's a super healer and whats a minor injury like a severed spine, plus she'd absorbed a lot of Skye power before the whole snappage..

Also Fred at the end of Angel... although in that case Fred was just an dead medium to some OP demon... Let's hope Simmons didn't share a similar fate
Edit: I'd also just like to say poor Jed Whedon. Caught all the flak because of AoS slow start, and gets little credit for the badassery that the show is now. Jed needs love too damnit!

Damn I forgot about Fred, I have to admit that the way that she died (Fred not Ileria or whatever her name was, was one of the most emotional depths that I can remember)
Why can't I stay

Great finale! I guess this is how they are going to explain mutations now in this version of the Marvel universe.
So just who is going to join Shield now? The mortality rate seems awfully high for all of their high ranking members. Hand, Gonzales, Karl Marx beard guy.
Gonzales biting the dust so early sucks. Would have liked that whole dynamic going on for a bit with different Shield factions for awhile longer especially heading up to Civil War.
That was awesome. Felt like I was watching a movie. This season was so much better than when this show started last year.
I was reading another forum and they were speculating that the artifact thing that took Simmons was the Venom symbiote. That would be pretty cool but I doubt it. They also think the terrigen mist laced vitamins and seafood will start creating more inhumans and lead into the start of the civil war movie.
(Love this fact : The TV magic of the scene includes a mechanical axe that actually cuts through a faux arm made up of tripe wrapped around a chicken thigh—which is what gives you the crunching sound of a bone being chopped in two. Yummy. )
But seriously, with Gordon dead, Jai Ling dead and Afterlife pretty much gone, when these people get their gifts there will be no one to prepare them.
Raina did say that Skye would become leader of the Inhumans. The lightning doctor guy will be around to help, and the remaining Inhumans should mostly be the more peaceful sorts who weren't in on the plan. Losing Gordon really hurts, but maybe they can work out some kind of deal with Shield where Skye's team finds people and brings them to the Inhuman group to help them cope.

Yup, The MCU can't have Mutants (Owned by Fox) so all those characters that are Mutants in the Marvel comic universe *waves magic wand* ta-da now you're Inhumans!
They're really sync'ing everything upcoming in now... Indexing Enhanced people = Civil War & the the upcoming Inhumans film (I wonder if Chloe Bennet (Skye) get's a part in the film?)

I dunno, it'd be a neat way to usher in the Marvel/Sony Studios new partnership with regards to Spider-Man properties. It'd explain where the symbiote came from.
Just finished binging on this series on Netflix, and wow has it ever gotten good. That first half of season 1 was a cheesy mess to get through with so many filler episodes, but once the Winter Soldier events kicked off they finally had a direction and things started to improve. But the jump in quality in the second season is amazing, I powered through it in a few days where it took me a few months to make my way through season 1. The only knock I can give it now is that they still hire for looks over talent, but when you get to watch Skye's mom and redhead duplicity chick it's hard to complain
Really looking forward to season 3, I wonder if they're going to have any Ant Man tie in stuff
