Heh, 4.5 billion vs. a century since any team from Van won a cup, still sounds about right..

100 years since the Millionaires won it.... 100.

Every team left has 10+ Canadians on their roster. I think Canada is doing just fine.

Glad the Bolts won
Why would you cheer against your country if your home team loses? Makes no sense to me. Sorry, but cheering for a Canadian team when the Flames are out does not diminish my "status" as an avid Flames fan - but feel free to invent "fandom" rules.

Given that there seems to be a "Canadian Team X" is no good thread that I've seen for the majority of Canadian teams here at the CP forums, it is no wonder that the odds have not favored getting a Cup North of the Border!

We hate it when our friends become successful,
And if they're northern
That makes it even worse and
If we can destroy them
You bet your life we will destroy them

It's not the Olympics. ONE citys team doesn't carry the weight of a whole nation. Thats the same #### the Raptors and Blue Jays say. In fact in one of the most recent Raptors commercials the say Canada's team and "35 million strong" I'm one of those 35 million strong and hate both sports.

So being a Flames fan you would actually hope the Edm or Van would win if the flames got knocked out. And they didn't?

Yup, we Canadians are all sunshine untill we get talking about our hockey rivals.

And yes, I am aware that the Habs beat us one year as well.

I'm pulling for Chicago hard now. Everyone else can go pound sand.
Well, when the Habs did it back then, they did it fair and square, unlike the Bolts. I'll NEVER cheer for the Bolts EVER!!

The NHL isn't a country vs. country thing, it's a city vs. city thing. Cheering against other Canadian teams doesn't diminish your position as a Canadian it's the same as cheering against any American team. It has nothing to do with me being Canadian or not. The Olympics is a different story, that's a country vs. country thing.

Really poor choice of wording in the tread title.

"Lord Stanley dislikes Canada"

If that were the case, why do so many Canadian players win it every year, with more Conn Smyth winners than any other nationality by a wide margin?

The obvious answer as to why a team situated in Canada hasn't won the cup in some time is because they play American teams full of Canadian players.

We are the dominant force in the league and the number one hockey nation on earth.

I was in the US last week and had an American try and rub my face in the fact a Canadian city hasn't won in so long. I pointed out how many Canadians are key players on cup winning teams and he matter of factly said it's because we make up the largest contingent of the league. Ah, yea. Cause we're the best at hockey. Duh.

Nothing to see here.

To be honest, i never cheer for the last canadian team standing unless it's the flames. I dream for it to be the Calgary Flames that end up being the team that brings the cup back to Canada.

In those 22 years you can find 6 American teams who haven't won it either, who have been around for the whole 22 years.
NY Islanders
Philadelphia
Washington
St. Louis
Buffalo
San Jose.

Since then, several more expansion teams and 1 relocated team:
Columbus (00-01)
Minnesota (00-01)
Nashville (98-99)
Arizona (95-96)
Florida - (93-94)

It's very hard for any team in general to win the Cup.

I'm confused, what's 319 Mil? Are we talking about the Raptors budget?

All of the teams I hate are Canadian. I would rather a Canadian team never win the cup again than have the Oilers or Canucks win one. Also, I find the Leafs cup futility hilarious, so I wouldn't mind that continuing either.
