Default Which Prospect Are You Most Excited For?

Which prospect are you most excited for in the next couple of years for the Calgary Flames?

For me, it would have to be Jon Gillies. I myself is a goalie and I see lots of similarities between us. Plus, his future is looking very good and I could see him being a #1 contender with Ortio. The moment he makes this team, i'm buying his jersey.

What about you guys?

If we are ignoring Sam - probably Gillies for me too. If he can turn into a solid #1 it addresses a very large long-term need.
I admit to constantly under-rating Ortio though - and I don't even know why. The dude has already had NHL success and yet I'm excited for the guy who hasn't had a lick of NHL action.

Jankowski, Hickey, and Smith.

HM: Ferland (close), Bennett (close), Gillies, Poirier, Rafikov, Ollas Mattson.

Double Edit: Ugh so many to choose... Extended HM: Klimchuk, Kanzig, Kulak, Harrison, and finally, (hopefully) Seiloff...

Emile Poirier . . . I can't wait to see a legitimate prospect on the RW.

Even though he didn't immediately catch fire in the NHL I think this guy is going to be a solid top 6 winger for this team.

I think Poirier could turn into a solid two-way third-liner who can pot 15 goals. I'm pretty excited about him.

Left Winger: Well, we don't need any. Elson and Klimchuk are pretty exciting, but I'm actually thinking Agostino. Wasn't he posting nearly 2PPG to close out the season while bringing a physical element?

Center: Jankowski. Watching him play in the last two games of the NCAA tournament, I was amazed at just how good he was, and how his less useful teammates were holding him back. The amount of grade A scoring chances he set up and they flubbed, and the sheer lack of chances they created for him made me think this guy could be a real big numbers guy with a Poirier or a Klimchuk flanking him.

Right Winger: Shore. He's so tenacious on the puck, he's a big body that can run a cycle, and he's a very good passer. I want to see him establish him as a regular on the roster and also use that point shot of his on the powerplay. I don't know why Hartley hates him, but I like Drew Shore.

Left Dman: Kulak. I really like Hickey, especially his physicality and skating, but there's something exciting about Kulak's offensive repertoir that gets me excited... I think he's going to find his game next year and push for an NHL roster spot.

Right Dman: Morrison. He's sort of our only one. -_-

Goaltender: Ortio. I know big guys like Gillies are the new norm in the NHL, but watching Ortio with good defense in front of him, I feel like he can stonewall us to a cup.

Hickey for me. I was very impressed by him in the Frozen-Four this year. Obviously has some things to work on, but he looked to have a very complete tool-set and great hockey IQ.

After that Gillies and Poirier. For whatever reason Poirier never seemed to quite settle in during his stints with the big club. Seemed a bit tentative. Hopefully he gets more comfortable and starts playing the game that was so successful for him in Addy.

Has anyone here seen enough of Klimchuk to get a read on whether he's close? I just don't hear a lot about him.

Bennett is the obvious choice, but if not him, then it's Hickey.

Poirer is the easy answer, I thought he showed a lot of jam on the 4th line from his callup.

I'm a little intrigued to see why there was so much interest in Drew Shore.... I didn't see what the big deal was, but we didn't get to see much of him.

Ryan Culkin flies under a lot of people's radar. I think he has a very bright future with this team.
