Flames Flames 2015 Draft picks - all picks now determined

Since this will be asked a bit over the next couple of days and assuming I got this all right:

Flames 1st round - 15th OA
Flames 2nd round - 45th OA
Flames 3rd round - 76th OA
Flames 4th round - traded to San Jose for TJ Galiardi
Flames 5th round - 136th OA
Flames 6th round - 166th OA
Flames 7th round - 196th OA

With the Rangers advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals the picks acquired from the Capitals and Canucks are now set:
Washington 2nd round - 52nd OA
Vancouver 2nd round - 53rd OA
Washington 3rd round - 83rd OA

if Washington advances to Eastern conference finals
Vancouver 2nd round - 52nd OA
Washington 2nd round - 58th OA (if Caps lose conference finals), 60th OA (if Caps lose Cup Finals), 61st OA (if Caps win Cup)
Washington 3nd round - 88th OA (if Caps lose conference finals), 90th OA (if Caps lose Cup Finals), 91st OA (if Caps win Cup)

(Note: Chicago has been given the 54th OA pick as a compensatory pick for not signing Kevin Hayes, that is why everyone gets shifted down one pick after the 54th OA pick)

It would be sweet to have 52nd and 53rd.

4 picks in the top 60 and 6 in the top 90. Nice.

wow ... we still get 15th overall? That's a higher pick than I would have expected.

Why would Caps pick jump from 52 to 84? Is there 2 compensatory picks in between?

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
In 2015 draft, LA picks 13th, Calgary picks 15th. I'd suggest the three-plus weeks of playoff experience was well worth dropping two spots.

It was apparent we could use some size in our lineup. Glad we have the right management team with a good philosophy to do just that!

Would love to see the flames package up the 15th with one of the seconds (and maybe something else) to try and move up a bit into the top ten - try and snag a guy like Provorov or Werenski.

Honestly I don't see anyone trading down from the top 10.

There is really no point in doing it IMO. I can't fathom an organization that can't use a Werenski or Provorov in their system or one of the forwards that are there, just for a 2nd round pick.

If anything it will take a roster player and a pretty decent one to get in the top 10 this year. IMO

Maybe not, but we have quantity of picks (and good prospect pool) so if the chance is there, even if the price is fairly steep, might be worth trying to do something that gives us a bit more quality, particularly for a D-man. There may be a team that likes someone enough in that 15 range to drop down if there's a chance to add significant depth to a weaker prospect pool.

Teams do it when they really like a guy that they don't think anyone else likes as much as they do. May not happen, especially not for just one second rounder but two of them or one and a prospect could tempt somebody. We've seen a few teams in the top 10 in the past deal down once or twice however usually they don't drop too far.

You could make a smaller trade just to move up into to 11-13 spot tho.

Feels dirty to cheer for the Rangers, but what the hell. Let's go Rangers!

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Key word few teams.

Since 1995 (that is as far as I checked) only 2 teams have traded out of the top 10 for just draft picks after the draft order has been set and never as low as 15th OA. The price is usually too high.

The feeling that I get is that there is a drop off in talent after the top 10-12. Flames are just sitting outside that range. Don't think any team will trade down that far.
