Anyone have the Coles Notes version of #GG?

You'll get different answers from people depending on which side of the issue they're on. It's really hard to give an answer in a nutshell. I don't think this thread is the place to have the discussion anyway, so I'd google it. Or, to be honest, I'd just ignore it.

one small bad thing multiplies into a thousand huge wrong things, with the power of the internet. a category 5 trollstorm that has no business taking up booth space at an expo.
if you go to read up on it, just be careful of the source because I've found very few people who have enough perspective on the whole thing to give an informed, constructive opinion. I'm not one of them, which is why I won't even try.

There's a lot of people whining about it on Twitter. Doesn't seem to be a big deal otherwise.
Oh, the parade was awesome!

I'm a little surprised that there are actually that many (or enough I guess) in the local area. I can't imagine them bothering to register a booth and then specifically travel here for the expo.

The Expo, as it's 10th birthday present to itself, broke the 100k attendance mark, with attendance pegged this year at 102,000.

While the four days were not completely sold out, the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo still managed to break attendance records on its 10th anniversary, welcoming more than 100,000 fans to Stampede Park.
As of press time, organizers reported that 102,000 attended the four-day expo on the Stampede grounds, up from last’ year’s 97,000. The event was sold out on Saturday and Sunday, although not Thursday and Friday. This year, the event expanded into the Agrium Building, which meant added capacity.
Friday’s numbers got a significant boost when a last-minute deal was signed to bring in actor Neil Patrick Harris for an event at the Corral.
Christie seemed to fit into an unofficial theme Sunday of celebrating female characters in pop culture. Discussion about depictions of females in media found its way into Atwell’s chat about her ass-kicking Agent Carter character, and presumably into a panel about “Social Responsibility and Feminism in Pop Media.”
Which brings us to the event’s biggest controversy. On Friday a group with alleged ties to the controversial Gamergate movement, which has been accused of misogynist online attacks of women in the gaming industry, was evicted from the premises.

Any one have a link to a good gallery of the costumes there was a Spider-Gwen I would like to see again? The missus and I went and had a blast this year, we won a pair of 4 day passes for this year too which was great. I really like the changes they made for people with disabilities, had a good laugh about how I only had special powers when with my wife.
The whole Honey Badger thing is a joke. Associating to GG is the same as being associated to a supremacist group in many circles, the Expo was within it's right to remove them and I am glad they did.

There was one family I saw they were all dressed up as Pokemon stuff. Dad was Brock, mom was Pikachu, one kid was Ash and the little girl was Misty, love it when the whole family gets involved.
Thought they did a really good job this year despite there being tons of people it didn't feel overcrowded, things were more spread out. Good job.

Yeah, thought it was well organized this year. Huge crowds and a busy spot with the game yesterday but it didn't feel claustrophobic. Calgary sure does need a new world class event center though, BMO and surrounding buildings just don't cut it.

I had fun this year. As I figured, there wasn't a whole lot going on Sunday and I didn't spend much time there. The Carl Weathers and Rosario Dawson spotlights were fantastic. The venue they used for Weathers was pretty small so we were sitting close to him which was great. The moderator interviewing him wasn't the best but Weathers told some great stories and gave some interesting answers.
Dawson's spotlight was probably the best one I attended. There wasn't a ton of people that showed up which is a shame. It's understandable given she was a late addition and I don't think it was on the schedule they were handing out.

The 'official' gallery isn't up yet. I went to their FB page, and then onto the cosplay sharing note. A lot of good pics in there. Also found this gallery (688 pics!) there.

Oh, and this guy is pretty cool and takes a lot of very good shots. He's also got galleries from previous years

This was my first year going to something like this and it wasn't too bad. I went on Friday and got a photo Op with Jessica Nigri. her Harley Quinn Costume was pretty cool.
I'm also hoping to go for all 4 days next year instead of just the one day.
MOD EDIT: Removed inappropriate comment.

Meant to post this sooner but the Flames have been my priority lately.
