Top speed in first gear on a Yamaha R1 @ redline is 100 MPH which is 162 KP/H.

I have ridden the R1 many times, and can certainly confirm it capabilities.

I have to ask the stupid question? Why in hell would they make a bike that can do over 100mph in first gear but top out at 176 in 6th gear?

Sum kind of weird enginering IMO.

I don't know about the 176mph but the bike manufacturers have a gentleman's agreement not to build a street legal bike that can do 200 mph.
