If you're a total amateur.
I just call it double breakfast for 6.99.

Actually, I happen to know plenty on the subject. Quoting that alone without the context of the rest of the post (meaning you're intentionally misrepresenting the point I was trying to make) makes you not worth responding to beyond this. [shrug]

Though I do agree that if you're only going to have coffee on a rare occasion, might as well go with a more quality option.

Bud is cheap beer and sure, if I'm looking for a buzz I'll get it, but it's terrible beer. Price is irrelevant. Just because something's a cheap deal doesn't make it good.
Love your description of Timmy's coffee though. Bang on.

You sound like a classic coffee snob. Put five cups in front of you and I'm guessing you couldn't tell the difference between your hipster 5 dollar coffee and 7/11 brew.
Regardless, for drip coffee, McDonalds is quite good. You are indeed in a small minority trying to pass it off as awful, and the rate you keep going on and on about it, it sure sounds like a sore spot for some reason.

And you are correct - the McDonalds coffee is very good.

It is not just their coffee, the cup is standout as well compared to Tims. The double walled cardboard and lid that doesn't leak out of the ####ing seam is awesome.
My only complaint is that you can only get a medium for free with the stickers. I don't even collect them now. What is the point of a medium coffee? It is like a half pint of beer, does not meet my needs.

Oh man, that pisses me off to no end. You would think 10 seconds of training, or a little common sense to put the seam at the back of the cup when they put the lid on, not 1/16th of a turn from the opening wouldn't be to much to ask for. Especially at the drive through. But no, every freakin time, leaky crappy coffee on the first sip.

The back is as bad, I have found the location to best minimize leaking is 90° from the opening. You also need to tuck your flap rather than fold back.

Either way, it volcanoes out the little hole in the lid anyway. Jeez I hate that.

Am I the only person who grew up on the Quarter Pounder with Cheese? My grandparents had an unhealthy obsession with McDonald's, so I became quite attached to that burger growing up. It's unspectacular, sure, but represents pure comfort food to me. Also, I never understood the hype surrounding the Big Mac or McChicken... oh, well.
I recently re-discovered the Quarter Pounder in the form of a strange, new(ish?) offering from McDonald's: the Quarter Pounder BLT. At first it seemed sacrilegious to me for them to tinker with a classic, although admittedly my enjoyment of the QPC had waned over the years. So, I gave it a shot.
And, unbelievably, I found it to be quite good. For context... although not quite as tasty, I'd certainly put it in the same echelon as A&W's Cheddar Bacon Uncle Burger (which is delicious, IMO, and essentially a gourmet burger, as far as fast food goes). The lettuce, tomato and bacon were all legitimately fresh and tasty, and together they really invigorated the burger into something truly satisfying.
I don't know if this is a Limited-Time Only burger offering, but it will be my go-to choice at McDonald's as long as it's on the menu.

I think the optimal location is to have the seam in the opening. You expect coffee to come out there as opposed to any other spot!

You can't be serious?
While the Quarter Pounder BLT isn't a bad option at McD's, the beef is no where as good as the Cheddar Bacon Uncle Burger at A&W. Do you work in the PR department at McDonalds?

I was waiting for a post like this. No sore spot at all, just find it funny how many people think McDonalds and Timmy's is good coffee.
Yup, I guess I am a coffee "snob" if I like good coffee and refuse to drink the swill that others enjoy. I'm really ok with it, but please feel free to think I have some vendetta or whatnot.

I miss the hell outa the Q pounder with cheese. Found out I am celiac a few years ago and haven't had one since. Also, this thread is depressing me. Ya, fast food isn't all that great but when you suddenly can't have it, you just want it more.

This reminds of my favorite but short lived McDonalds burger...the McDLT. Apparently I am a sucker for tomato's on a burger. Plus who could resist that packaging that kept the cool side cool and the hot side hot.

While at university, I had an unhealthy obsession with the McRib, thankfully it was a seasonal sandwich.

I find I spill on myself when the seam is in the opening. I could just be terrible at drinking...
