This game will be fantastic. I have last year's game, and have played in constantly.

The downside...

It will be digital download only. No box versions this year.

I hate that.

2006 was the first year I had ever tried EHM, and I got hooked immediately. It is easily the most addicting game/simulation I've ever played.

I just read on the forums that salary arbitration is in. That should be interesting.

The 2-D view will be 1/5th of a second slices with collision detection so it will be smooth - not "flashes in time" like the previous version.

Is there any chance of salary cap fluctuation?

Good because I couldn't find the boxed version anywhere.

I tried to get this game last year. Rob Kerr was talking to developpers that came to hype the game. Evidently their advertising did not work. I couldnt find it anywhere. The game seemed very obscure here.

I'd like to get the new one.

I ordered it online and that worked out well.

This was after their digital download company dicked me around. Apparently they are going with a different one now, but I have trouble trusting it.

Any word on how the digital download will work (if at all) on a Mac OS platform? I wanted to buy the boxed version, and was also unable to find it anywhere.

I hope the game is more involved and challenging. I won five straight stanley cups and was in the finals for something like eight straight years.

One problem I have now is I changed laptops and I can't get them to let me reinstall 2005 on my new laptop. They claim I never bought the game. Very frustrating. Guess I will just wait for 2007 to be released.

I think digital downloads is the way more PC games will be released. I've noticed EB Games has less and less shelf space for PC titles. And by self publishing the developer gets to keep more of the selling price.
I have no problem with downloading the game - heck, it saves me a trip to the store, but it would be nice if they offered a disk for the cost of shipping. I'm planning on building a new system in the next few months, and it would be handier if all my software was on disks. (I know I'll burn a copy, but professional pressed versions last longer)

Can you assign scouts around the world in preparation for the amateur draft?

Can you design specific training schedules for individual players and assign a specific coach to training schedules?

Can you hire coaches, scouts, and trainers as you see fit?

Can you get a job in the CHL, ECHL, AHL, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic or Russia and work your up to the NHL?

Can you watch your games out live with a graphical representation that implements your tactics on the fly?

Does the CPHL incorporate a database of 45,000 players and staff from 3,000 teams worldwide?

Can you play/simulate a month without having to wait for other people?

I didn't think so.

Not to mention the CPHL isn't exactly flexible with your time. A game is fun when you can play it when you want to, not because you have to.

No but you can interact with ACTUAL HUMANS not just Computer AI. Humans are unpredicatble where as if you play the Computer you will eventually figure it out.

Anyways I am picking up EHM as soon as I can. It is a great game.

I finally got an answer to this from the developer. In a word, no. They could have made it randomly jump up or down but that's a sloppy way of doing it and SI isn't into sloppy. They would prefer to model actual league finances but that's too big of a job within the development timeframe.
