Kudos to Hartley for sending Backlund out as an extra attacker. There were a lot of acceptable and viable options of players he could send out based on this game. He could've sent out Bennett, Colborne, Jones, even Raymond (who he sent out on an earlier delayed penalty, I think) but he chose Backlund and it paid off in a huge way.

I continue to Boblieve

Default Flames win in OT 4-3! Ducks lead series 2-1

This has the potential to be an enormous win for this team in so many ways... The flames have looked better and better every game and the top line finally put it together in the third period. Doubt has crept in for the ducks after a loss like that.

On top of that... The flames have 3 days to the next game. This gives ferland as well as others time to possibly heal up a bit. If he returns and plays like he did in the last series he adds a whole new element to this team. We saw what he did to the Canucks and he could do the same to the ducks. The top line could gain momentum from gaining confidence again... The same way they did in the first round.

I bet giordano is in the gym in the middle of the night right now doing bicep curls like crazy trying to get back into the line up. He'll be going to holistic healers and voodoo doctors tomorrow doing all he can cause this team is doing everything they can to stay in the fight. Survive this series and gio could be a monster addition within a couple weeks.

"We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to play on! We're going to survive!"

What a game! Unbelievable comeback after the "non-goal"

Embarrassing for the league that all these years later they manage to screw up another goal call.

There is hope! Can't wait for Friday.

TMDK stands for "The Mighty Don't Kneel" which I think is very applicable to this team.

I'm also going to go out on a limb and guess that its someones playoff superstition so whats the harm?

Such a satisfying win after getting 04'd on the tying goal. Hit my head on my basement projector when I jumped in celebration. Took me quite a while to properly align things afterwards.

So worth it.

From a mental perspective this was an elimination game. Going into the third period I was nervously counting the minutes, especially after the disallowed goal. It was a huge bullet dodged with 19 seconds to go!

The Flames really needed to reignite their 3rd period mojo that helped them all year, and they finally did it. After getting outscored 9-1 in Anaheim they needed to believe, and their fans needed to believe. Once they equalized it felt like they will be pushing the play from that point on. However, Anaheim surprised me by how tough and resilient team it is. Which is why I was really surprised to see Anaheim pushing the play to start OT.

As for how games go, it was a storybook ending. This ending should give the Flames a huge energy boost going into game 4. They overcame the adversity, and the push back to start to OT. On the other side Anaheim reacted just right to the tied game yet still lost. Let the psychological game continue.

Finally, those were huge 2 points tonight. Keep it up boys!
