Some dumb-dumbs are still selling PL for ~$250 for game 3 on stubhub.

You can get good 2nd bowl (sec 211) for $160 per right now.

Hard to rip on any other fan base when when the daunting c of red cant sell out a rd 2 game.
Price increase + two lackluster, boring performances = low demand.

No one wants to pay hundreds of dollars for what most likely will be a disappointing night.

I bought my buddies tickets from him for Face Value as he let me buy his second ticket twice in round 1. Hopefully I find some better empty seats as those were the 2nd last row of PL.

This is all on the Flames organization and their pricing of the tickets. They gambled they could get scalper prices for their tickets and it hasn't worked out for them, for this round at least.

What's on them though? One, lets see if they sell. Two, the goal from a business perspective is not to have a sold out building, but to maximise revenue. Flames may very well be better off with the pricing scheme they've selected versus having to drop the ticket prices for all of their seats just to have a sold out building. It's about what price point generates the most revenue, not the most volume.

Ya hard to argue on the price point, definitely a fumble on the orgs part.

Its just hard to believe we havent seen playoff hockey since 09, the 2nd rd since 04 and a couple away loses to a cup contender suddenly kills demad for tickets (albeit overpriced in some cases)

I thought it would be a battle to get tix the entire run, no matter if it lasted 1, 2 or 3 rounds simply due to the drought and the fact that the team is in no way a lock for playoffs next year...

How is it hard to argue. You can't just say that without numbers to back it up. Building is what, about 90% to 95% sold out? So how much lower do they need to drop the prices of ALL the already sold tickets, to sell the remaining 5% to 10% more? It depends where you think that break point is. Drop them by 10%...........might be worth it. Drop the price by 50%, the Flames current strategy is clearly better. All depends on where you think that break point is to sell out the building, but it's very easy to argue that given just how expensive the tickets are, that selling out the building at the level they have has been very profitable for them, and a solid choice.

From what I can gather, the tickets on ticketmaster are 2.5 to 3 times regular season face value. Combine that with a provincial election and a Tuesday night game after 2 of the worst performances of the season and I understand why they aren't selling out.

All I am saying is don't blame the fans for empty seats at the dome tonight, blame the Flames organization for putting the price too high. I agree with you that even with empty seats the Flames are still probably maximizing revenues, but when it looks like you're gouging your fans it could have negative long term effect on attendance for the team.

I would imagine if the flames win tonight the secondary market and what's left of tickets won't be available for long for games 4/6.

Yeah don't see how you can blame the fans.

Fans are smarter than blindly paying whatever price the organization can dream up when the entertainment value of the series has been pretty much zero to this point.

I'm happy Flames fans aren't falling for it. Sets a good precedent going forward.

Fair enough - not hard to argue that the org is going to look to maximize profit. Regardless i was surprised (justifiably or not) when they sent the notification on price increase for our tickets for playoffs.

Maybe im just demoralized that the bldg isnt full (yet) and take that to mean the fanbase is throwing in the towel, which i dont truly beleive is the case. Plenty of factors in play as noted in this thread. And yes i realize that fans can be fans without buying tickets.

Truthfully as long as those in attendance are loud having a few hundred empty seats isnt as big a deal as im making it my head.

FWIW, cheapest ticket on StubHub is now double face value again....I would imagine based on the fact with the epic game last night and a friday night, it'll be a hot ticket.

I got PL tickets off Stub Hub below face value yesterday afternoon. Amazing what happens after a win, haha.

So glad I got tickets yesterday for game 3, instead of waiting for game 4. In the first round, PL were going for $250, some even asking close to $400. Just ridiculous.

Yesterday around 4pm on StubHub I managed to score 2 tickets in the 200 level behind the goal for $93 (US). I didn't fully realize what a steal it was until I printed them off after purchase, and saw the face value on the ticket at $143.50. How were playoff tickets in this city going for $50 under face value??

After last night, I can't imagine they'll be that cheap again. Too bad, being there was infectious. Thinking about doing it again, but I'm scared to see what the prices are like more, after that thriller.

Although I can't stomach paying the ridiculous prices I don't mind seeing high prices because I know that the flames are still in

Holy. A quick look on Stubhub and the prices are brutal for game 4.

I dream of a day when playoff pricing is set at $150 for lower, $99 for upper, and $39 for PL. Tickets are sold by the Calgary Flames, and your name is printed on them. You can't get into the arena unless the name on the ticket matches your identification papers.

If something arises and you cannot attend the game, you get your money refunded, and the Calgary Flames resell the ticket for the next person in the lottery draw.

You can bet your ass that would be a raucous crowd.

If the NDP got voted in, why can't we dream of a socialist, price-fixed utopia?

I've been entering myself and my folks in the Sport Chek draws.
My dad and I both were chosen for Game #4.

I was told by a friend that once you are chosen for a game, you are ineligible for the rest of the playoffs. Is this true? Also, does it make a difference whether or not tickets are actually purchased? Eg- If I bought tickets tomorrow, but my did did not buy any, would my dad still be eligible for future Sport Chek draws during the playoffs?
