I thought Johnny's play was too Oiler; so the only thing to do was to bench him and teach him team play.

I think Hudler has been hurt all playoffs....since the LA game to be exact.

Probably had something push that injury over the top this game.

@Fan960Steinberg: Ferland and Hudler both day-to-day, according to Hartley. #Flames

Default Ferland and Hudler leave game 1. Gaudreau benched in 3rd period

I'm actually quite worried for Ferlands hockey career. 2 concussions and another one possibly at such a young age.

Hudler took a slash to the hand.

They said that in the broadcast, but he was laboured in his stride to the bench and clutched his back while sitting

I love Gaudreau's deking around defenders.

Hartley was pretty clear post-game that he sat Johnny down to rest him and b/c he felt the ducks were taking liberties. Given the score - he chose to sit him.

Just watched another replay of him going to the bench after the slash. He never waved his hand, which is the typical reaction. He also put both hands on the boards and leaned forward. When you have a sore hand or wrist, you typically pull your arm into your body, you don't lean forward onto your hands.

Also......**** you concussions. **** off.
Johnny got drilled from behind earlier, monohan is banged up and hudler is potentially out. Its the smart and only move in a complete wash of a game. You simply don't run your best offensive player out there any longer at this point and risk losing him as well.

agree 100%

kid should be be held out in order to protect his long term career... i'd rather see him as a member of the calgary flames for the next 5-8 years than to risk another concussion just so the flames can lose the game 6-3...or lose the series 4-2 instead 4-1 or 4-0

That looks like a concussion to me too. Man, that sucks. I hope it's not serious. Wolf is a big body, but he's too damn slow.

Yup I agree, really worried for him. Concussions seem to jus build on each other, and the poor kid looks like h might have now suffered his 2nd in what, less 20 NHL games?

Given the way he needs to play, he's not going to last long if he's already this prone, so let's hope it's not that.

Yes... but the play almost never went forward - only laterally or back. It didn't effectively generate anything. That's not all on him though - that's on the line as well.
Me? I'm pretty partial to Perry or Getzlaf dropping the shoulder and running over anyone getting to the front, then jamming it in.

Seems to me Anaheim is that team that Burke talks about when he says you need a roster to beat different kinds of teams. This is a far bigger challenge than last series. And I think exposes this Flames roster.

Sincerely hope Ferland doesn't have another concussion, but it's hard to think otherwise. I feel awful for him. Didn't even care about the score after that...

Hudler looks like he has some sort of back or rib injury the way he was slumped over on the bench.

Ferland is probably concussed. Freak accident, he didn't see the hit coming and have time to protect himself.
