At the end of the day though, nothing beats cane sugar. Quality over quantity wins it for me every time...so Id rather have a good drink fewer times, than a diet drink more often...especially since none of it is really good for you anyway.
I wish they would come out with a Coke that uses cane sugar, and less of it than traditionally used. The Diet part would be having less sugar, not just having fake sugar.

They tried to do something like this before but with "fake sugar". It was C2 - 1/2 the calories of regular Coca Cola with the same taste. They achieved the reduction by using 50% of the regular sugar and supplementing the sweetness with artificial sweeteners (all of the holy trinity of artificial sweetners, actually).
I had tried it when it was available and it tasted really decent. You can achieve the same taste with a 50/50 mix of Coke Classic and Coke Zero.
There was no real market for a mid-calorie pop and it faded quick. People concerned about caloric intake will opt for no-calorie drinks rather than "half-calorie" drinks.
