It might have something to do with how you're feeling about smoking. The urge to quit is coming from somewhere, so maybe when you're going against that, you're getting anxiety because you're hard on yourself for doing it. And you start to get upset with yourself.

Well putting it like that sure makes me feel better about it!

I hope that's the case. I've had the urge to cutback for a while so I could see that. I'm also stressing about a few different things overall lately so it could just be that.

Either way it's definitely driving a positive change in my life overall, I just want to rule out anything legitimate if it continues to happen.

Stop smoking all weed for one week. If the heart issue goes away, its very likely the weed. You should still go to the doctor because there is the potential that there is another underlying problem. But if it goes away if you stop for a week, then comes back if your start smoking again then its a pretty good chance the weed is your problem.

Definitely a large part of it is your perception of what you are doing. It seems to act as a mood multiplier for a lot of people so if what you're doing is causing you anxiety cannabis can exaggerate it and create much stronger physical symptoms. Heart palpitations are one symptom of high anxiety, but you should go to a doctor anyways. Heart, genitals or brain go see a doctor asap.

My GFs. Im the opposite. It created issues lol.

Two days in and two nice long runs so far. If I could somehow actually replace being stoned with running I'll be in the Olympics next year.

You find that blazing helps your lung capacity? Also, nothing worse than working out next to a guy that just smoked. Worse than BO imo.

Yeah I find smoking helps my lungs drastically, can smoke in the middle of a jog and keep going way harder. My girlfriend too, she hates running but if I convince her to smoke she'll be calling me lazy racing me down the road.

I make sure to have a clean odor if I'm indoors, did it once and pissed off enough people that I got the hint.

You guys are taking crazy pills. On what planet is MJ performance enhancing? I've never heard of this and I've hung around with a lot of stoners in my day. I lived at Lake Louise for a year FFS. Is there any research to back this up? Seems like BS to me.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say it's not improving anything, and it's all in Ac's head. It's probably just the fact that he enjoy's running while being high so it feels like he can go longer.

Inhaling any kind of smoke regularly will not, at any point, improve your lung functions.

That's my take on this as well. No way super heating something and inhaling it into your lungs can help in your running performance. How could it?

I will say, with absolutely no verification, that my GF had mentioned a while ago after reading an article that MJ smokers CAN have increased lung capacity due to the large inhales and holds you do when smoking.

I'm not sure if that was compared to tobacco smokers or just in general, or if it was a bunch of nonsense. Just thought I'd share.

Hows' your singing?

Inhaling any kind of smoke into you're lungs is going to reduce lung capacity. On top of that because of the way joints are rolled more loosely then smokes and you're not using a filter you're getting a lot more tar in your lungs which I believe reduces lung capacity eventually.

When you first start smoking anything you feel like you have more capacity because you inhale deeper, but smoking anything is not doing any favors to your lungs.

Its the same with cigarettes, especially when you first start. But you are doing long term damage to your lungs.

whether its dope or its tobacco, inhaling anything that is a contaminating factor will kill your lungs.

THC has been found to be a bronchioldialator. It opens up your lungs and gives you higher capacity for oxygen absorption.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3340105

Quote:
o compare the pulmonary hazards of smoking marijuana and tobacco, we quantified the relative burden to the lung of insoluble particulates (tar) and carbon monoxide from the smoke of similar quantities of marijuana and tobacco. The 15 subjects, all men, had smoked both marijuana and tobacco habitually for at least five years. We measured each subject's blood carboxyhemoglobin level before and after smoking and the amount of tar inhaled and deposited in the respiratory tract from the smoke of single filter-tipped tobacco cigarettes (900 to 1200 mg) and marijuana cigarettes (741 to 985 mg) containing 0.004 percent or 1.24 percent delta 9-tetrahydrocanabinol. As compared with smoking tobacco, smoking marijuana was associated with a nearly fivefold greater increment in the blood carboxyhemoglobin level, an approximately threefold increase in the amount of tar inhaled, and retention in the respiratory tract of one third more inhaled tar (P less than 0.001). Significant differences were also noted in the dynamics of smoking marijuana and tobacco, among them an approximately two-thirds larger puff volume, a one-third greater depth of inhalation, and a fourfold longer breath-holding time with marijuana than with tobacco (P less than 0.01). Smoking dynamics and the delivery of tar during marijuana smoking were only slightly influenced by the percentage of tetrahydrocanabinol. We conclude that smoking marijuana, regardless of tetrahydrocannabinol content, results in a substantially greater respiratory burden of carbon monoxide and tar than smoking a similar quantity of tobacco.

I don't need research to verify personal experience. I run a faster mile (5:57) with cannabis than without (6:14). What works for me may not work for others but you can't really just say my experience is BS when you're not me.

Had a full physical for work a year ago, summary was perfect health. Keep doing what I'm doing.

One thing I will say is that I always get organic soil grown plant matter and if I do smoke hydroponically grown it kills me and my lungs feel dead so I won't smoke it anymore.
