Default Flipping cell phone vids for PC

So this is something I've wondered for a while and now my g/f's dad has asked me to help him figure it out.

When watching a video that was filmed on an cell phone (vertically) and then watched on a PC, it's always sideways.

I tried using Windows Movie Maker but it really reduced the quality of the video. Is that avoidable? I'm assuming there is something better than Windows Movie Maker?

Yes...clever. You don't need to tell me, tell the older generation.

Windows Movie maker will do it but seems like vid quality takes a hit.

Anything else?

I think I used to use Freemake Video Converter back when Mrs. Penguin used to shoot vertical videos.

Use Handbrake. That's pretty much a standard and it's designed to recognize mobile content in all it's formats.

CLI method but I'm sure there's a way in the GUI.
