I do have to say one major flaw in owning older supercars and high end cars and that's that it can probably be a bit embarrassing when your 2007 Bentley doesn't have Bluetooth, USB or AUX which are standard in most Fiestas today.
I mean, that high end escort is going to be a bit miffed when she has no where to plug in her phone
Just one thing to consider. I wouldn't worry about it with a car like an Aston/Ferrari/Lambo...etc which you buy for it's appearance and stature, but Top Gear did an episode on exactly this issue. Buying an older high end car or a new cheap car. You miss out on a lot in older cars.

You don't buy those cars to have new gimmicks and gadgets, you buy them to drive. In 20 years, every car on the market today will be outdated and that sucker will still be a beautiful classic.
Granted, your argument is totally on point with respect to owning one of these cars as a daily driver, just for the sake of convenience.
Completely out of curiosity, anyone here own an A4 wagon and if so, provide some thoughts after owning it for a while?

Ever drive one though? They definitely drive a little "fatter" than you think they would, and the older ones feel a little underpowered (but DAT ASS on that first gen is enough to make one not care). Once you get it up to speed though, they are like a cruise missile.
At one point, I had myself convinced that 928 would make a great "winter beater" that I could just park on the street, hah. I was pretty much on that track until this "winter beater" came along at a stupidly good price.

All of which can be added in aftermarket.
I would have to thing most "car-guys" looking at an older sports/exotic/luxury likely don't really care about having OEM bluetooth, or bluetooth at all. I can probably count the number of times I even turned the stereo on in mine.

That's exactly what I mean and why I pointed out Bentleys (or high end Mercs, BMW's etc) and excluded Astons, Ferraris...etc.
One you buy to have as a daily driver and the others you buy to own and just have.
Hell I stare at my car every time I walk away from it. If I was torque dog I'd probably sleep in my garage!!

You can get into a used 2009 Aston Martin Vantage for as low as $70,000-$80,000 (depending on mileage). While still not a cheap ride by any means, it's definitely something that many people around 30 could afford (especially those without kids). Just a question of priorities.

I love cars that have roll on/top end power, way more than out of the chute fast. After riding bikes my whole life, and some crazy monster sportbikes, there isn't a car out there that impresses me off the line. Once you have done the Hayabusa/ZX1400R 0-200kph in 6.9 secs.....in 3rd gear, lol nothing feels fast anyway.
To me a 928 is that car you strap on some old aviators, fingerless leather driving gloves, button your shirt down to the sternum, pop in "Eye of the Tiger" and pretend you're doing an illegal coke run between Calgary and Canmore on the 1A. Bonus points if you convince a big-haired hooker to join you riding shotgun. Added bonus points if you actually have coke on you.
That car defined early 80's performance and image.

Ah, not a huge story to tell, just that the guy I bought it from had no idea that this generation has started really going up in price over the last year or two. The 964 used to be the 911 nobody wanted, but now that 993's are out of range, a lot of focus has turned o the 964 and prices have started going up quite a bit. I probably bought it at 50-60% of what it's worth.

I've never done coke in my life, but that whole 80s cocaine car vibe is extremely appealing to me, haha. Actually, I'm a total sucker for anything from that era (especially cars in John Hughes movies) .

The 80's had some very definitive cars. Design was so unique then. It was impossible to get cars mixed up, and design language was based more on cool factor, than aerodynamics/functionality. Definitely an awesome era.

I've been told that if I ever need work, I should use my voice to narrate movie trailers. You, pylon, should be writing funny snippets for magazines.

By the time I was 30, I was no-longer interested in GT-Rs. That may happen to you. The dream cars of your teens and twenties tend to lose out in favor of more elegant rides.
