If they are avoiding having the game on Tuesday because of the election that would be lame, but it does give the Flames a bit more time for injury recoveries.

I'm hoping for a game next Thursday at home, it's my birthday!
And get picked to buy tickets to it.

Exactly, I'll vote because I want to. I'll watch the game because I want to. I hope nobody is under the illusion that I will watch election coverage on television for any reason at any time, never mind if it conflicts with the hockey game.

The point has always been to make sure people have enough time to vote. Even with an 8:00 game start, that may not allow for enough time for many people to work 9-5, get supper, vote, and get to the game. There would be a good chance that people would miss voting; given those 4 choices of what to miss.
Employers are required to give employees a certain number of consecutive hours to vote, so it's obviously serious enough. Also considering the possibility that the Flames may want the provincial election to go a certain way for possible arena funding, it could have a direct impact on the team.
Yes, I know with advance polls this could be resolved. However many people don't know that you can just go and vote in the advance poll; that you don't need to prove anything. I've also had somebody at an advance poll almost refuse to let me vote without knowing my exact reason.

The NHL determines the schedule. The teams submit building availabilities.

Is it a little odd that they are taking so long to announce the dates and times?

Not really, they have to wait for the Det/TB game to be completed tonight. If its goes to a game 7, they won't be playing until Wednesday. Which means RD2 probably won't start until Friday.

Steinberg also tweeted Wednesday/Friday are the home games.

Still a few moving parts for round 2 #Flames dates. Weds, Thurs, Fri all in play for game 1. G2 goes Sun. Games 3 and 4 next Weds and Fri.

Eric Clapton is at MSG on both Friday and Saturday, which means the Rangers series will almost certainly start on Thursday.
The United Center's calendar is surprisingly wide open, but they also need to work around the Bulls' second round schedule. The Hawks will likely play on Saturday because it's the only building that isn't already booked.
If Tampa wins tonight and forces Game 7 for Wednesday, they won't force the winner of that series to play on back-to-back nights, travelling from Tampa to Montreal. That means the Habs series won't start before Friday.
My guess is we'll see the NYC and Chicago games on Thursday and the Montreal and Anaheim games on Friday. Then, Chicago Game 2 on Saturday and the other Games 2 on Sunday: Rangers Sunday afternoon; Habs early Sunday night; Flames late Sunday.

I appreciate your optimism and readiness of showing your love for the flames.
Who here would quit their job if it interfered with watching the flames win the cup?

Hopefully, not too many 8 pm starts. Was really glad that they moved game 6 to 7 pm.

I suspect every game will be an 8:00pm or 8:30pm MT start. That allows tv to have double-headers with the Eastern games and it gives people in Anaheim a chance to get to the games on time.
Both of the games in Anaheim in the first round were 7:30 PT starts.
Tampa won tonight, so that should eliminate any chance that Game one is on Wednesday.

I'm really hoping Friday then Sunday.
-A lot of people could make a weekend out of it and fly to Anaheim.
-Flames could use extra day of rest.
-Ducks likely prefer to get going early and not get too rusty. They might be a little slow in game 1.
-If Flames win Friday night we could celebrate in style
-any other good reasons?

I bought tickets for the opening games in Anaheim. I've never been to Honda Center before. Should be fun.

Wed and Friday to complete the sweep and party like we did on Saturday.
Works for me.

I Hope the games are 8pm or 830pm starts. That gives me enough time to put the kids to bed.
