Good places to eat lunch downtown?
So I got a job downtown and I'm walking around the lunch hour looking for a good place to eat trying a different place each day. Where are you folks eating during lunch hour? Are there any little places where you can get some good food and a good deal too?

Burger Burger in SunLife Plaza is pretty delicious
For Vietnamese Subs go to Thi Thi, which is across the street from the Harry Hayes Building (usually a 30 minute wait, but worth it)

Mother Tuckers. IMO the best buffet in Calgary. It is located on 10th Ave and 4th Street I think. It is beside the Whiskey.

Amin's Donair (7th Ave between Centre & 1st street I believe) has some really good donairs - it's a hole in the wall, but the food is good
Sunterra (Bankers Hall, Gulf Canada Square and TransCanada building) has some really good food (pizza, quesadilla, sandwiches)
Some good restaurants: Glory of India, Mango Shiva, Mother Tuckers, Milestones, Murietta's (expensive!!)
There is a bookstore (McNally Robinson, I believe) on 8th Ave and on the top floor there is a restaurant which is pretty good (and cheap)
And then there are the food courts

I think it is about $11 a head for the buffet.
It is a place that serves steak and ribs. Excellent salad bar as well. You can read more here:

I would say that Singapore Sam is the best buffet in town (which is just a block South of MT. If you aren't a fan of oriental food, then Mother Tuckers would be the top.
A couple other places I like downtown off the top of my head:
- Jonas' Hungarian Restaurant
- Falafel King
- The Chick Pea
- Chicago Chop House
- Bonterra
- A touch of Ginger
- Tai Tai
- La Tavola
- Juan's Mexican
There's actually quite a few good ones...
James.

Agreed. Best deal is to get take away. $9.50 and they hand you a big styro container to fill which means you only end up sleepy afternoon full and not ready to explode if you take a deep breath full.

Glory of India is on 4th ave between 4th and 5th street on the south side. It's on the main floor of London House. Eat in is I think 14 or 15 bucks and you'd need to get there fairly early or make a reservation. Like I said, the best deal is their take away box at $9.50.

I love Falafel King. I eat there a few times a month and they treat me like gold. Sure, I stand out a bit (how many 6'3", 260lb white guys with shaved head and goatee could be frequenting their restaurant?) but the food and service are excellent. Plus, the food is quite healthy so that's quite an upsaide for me.

Yep, totally healthy. I mean all that delicious greasy donair meat, the fat free delicious sauce and the insignifigant ammount of veggies.
That's my kind of healthy!
