With the second game probably being on Sunday that is a massive bonus for the Flames since it gives everyone basically a week longer to recover, plus Gio another few days extra.
I really don't see how we're going to get past the Ducks, the Canucks were all we could handle at times and the Ducks are way better. I don't think we're going to be able to push them around and keep them to the outside as much, so either we're going to have to stop with the juicy rebounds or a lot more of those are going to be going in. I can see us being hemmed in our own zone even more, and playing with basically 5 D one wonders how long that can continue.
But the coach says he always has a plan, and they're not going to go down without trying. Brodie kept getting better so maybe he throws the team on his back, the first line outplays their first line, and our goalie steals a game or two.
My mind says Ducks in 5 but the x-factor says I'll just sit back and enjoy it.
With a little bit of luck in terms of injuries, this Flames team is a cup contender.
I have been skeptical for most of the year, but following the giordano injuring and weathering injuries to the top line, I think this Flames team is a real threat.
If Calgary get Diaz back, and with a convenient injury or two on the other side, I think calgary has a real shot because they have 2 goalies who can go lights out for 2 or 3 games in a series.
Put me firmly in the camp of not being afraid of Anaheim or the Hawks.
Beachemin is a lefty and throws big punches. The lefty part catches people off guard but he can be beat.
Speaking of throwing punches that catch people off guard, that Ferland kid throws uppercuts from his shoelaces and right bombs from the second row. If he lands one, good night. That being said, i think Ferland matches up better with Jackman and we'd better leave Beauchemin for Engellend. Bollig can take Jackman as well or that Morooon guy or Wisniewsky.
In this last one, Ferland throws but misses the uppercut. This was from a few weeks ago, but lookout if that one lands.
Jackman Bollig
Beauchemin Iginla

Much like November this year, I predict that Tim Jackman will instigate a scrap with Engellend early in at least a few of the games so as to get Engellend off the ice and neutralize a D pairing while penalties are served, thereby putting extra pressure on the top pairing.

I believe Lovejoy was traded at the deadline to Pitt.

Does Jackman even scrap anymore?

Jackman is still a really strong guy. Most of his fights are wrestling where he ties up his opponents and tries to sneak in a punch late. He won't be fighting these fights to win, he'll be fighting them to "not lose" and to try and tire Engellend out.
imo

Jackman can try and start something, but Engelland is too smart to scrap for sake of scrapping and he knows how many minutes he's logging and how important he is for the team this playoffs.
Plus, one on one fights are archaic to Engelland. Not worth his time unless he's unloading bombs two guys at once.

If we beat the Ducks, I really think we have a legitimate shot at the cup.
I don't know, I would give the flames worse odds against Chicago or Minnesota than Anaheim, that's just me though. Chicago is just Chicago and Minny is a rolling snowball of doom. Anaheim seems beatable by comparison.
However, 2004 seemed far more daunting at the time and in hindsight. If that can be done, so can this. I like the optimism btw
