Jankowski.

j/k I still have high hopes that Janko will be an NHLer some day. Please resume Sven bashing (also known as Sventing).

Even though he's undersized, Granlund has enough jam to play in a bottom 6 role to provide some speed and skill in the transition game.

I agree that Granlunds a keeper, but if so, who goes? Jooris? Don't want that either. Only so many slots for too many players. Nice problem to have I guess but I think Granlund is someone we should keep.

Not sure, I guess see who is pushing for spots and who gets pushed out. I think Granlund can put up pretty solid 2nd liner points, but I am not sure anyone values him as much as we do (maybe Minny)... its not so much I dont think he should be dealt, as it is more to do with the fact that I would want to get value.
Got a lot of decisions to make, thats for sure. I am seeing duos being formed though with Monahan-Gaudreau being a tandom for years to come. I wonder if Bennett-Poirer is the 2nd line duo. Fill in the rest accordingly, maybe Ferland goes on the Bennett line.
I think Raymond is the easy answer for who goes, followed by Bollig. Then after that, its a bit iffy... maybe Jooris?

Who knew our team would become so deep, so fast? Granlund is the only kid that I see that may not fit but I'm in no rush to move him.

What do you think of Klimchuk? Could he be the piece that moves?

Going to be an interesting couple of years. There is a log jam building that's pretty sizeable, and even with the odd vet being let go or moved out, I don't think there will be enough roster spots for the amount of solid prospects coming up. IMO it's likely Sven won't be the last prospect dealt for a decent draft pick, or maybe even a couple of quantity for quality trades may happen.
I mean just look at what's coming next fall. No UFA forwards on the current roster, and quality young players can't even get a sniff of being dressed....and that's with a couple guys already out with injuries.

Don't really know what we have in him yet.

I like Granlund but there are just too many good, young forwards on this team and they can't all play. He's probably going to be dealt at some point for asset management reasons more than anything. It's a good problem to have when you have to get rid of players because there are too many good assets and not enough roster spots to go around. As flames fans we're just not used to this but I fully trust Treliving to do the right thing when the time comes.

That's part of rebuilding. Get enough prospects where you keep the absolute cream of the crop and trade the rest.
That's why you need 20-25 topish end prospects because not everyone will pan out properly like Sven.

Sven and Neiderreiter making similar decisions and demands isn't because they are both Swiss. But it might just be because they have the same agent giving them advice.

Absolutely. It's really important that young players pick the right agent as they are also advisors to the kids. It's safe to say that not all agents are of the same quality and unfortunately some players get bad advise and it can cost them in their careers.

I de-numbered my Sven retro jersey today, since I refused to wear it again while his name/number was on it. Re-arranged the letters for my own amusement. NSFW for profanity.

Shore.
He requires waivers and doesn't seem to have earned any confidence from Hartley to get regular playing time despite being up with the team since January 20th. We either have to give him a spot on the roster next year or expose him to waivers. We have kids in Adirondack far ahead of him in potential and fits on the NHL roster so I'd prefer to see him moved.

I wouldn't peg Granlund for an exit just yet. Jooris is two years older and is good no doubt. But Granlund gets one more year IMO before that sort of decision is made. He works hard. Is improving steadily and positively. He is the exact kind of guy you let over ripen Detroit style in the AHL. I really do believe he's capable of being a Dynamic player akin to Nyquist or Abdelkader. Both endlessly useful in building a perennial contender.
I like Jooris but if I were the decision maker and had to choose between the two, I'd keep Granlund and move Jooris.
Klimchuk, Poirier, Jankowski ETC are all minimum two seasons away from being full time roster guys. Lots of time to see what you have with Granny, Jooris and the rest.
Actually, I'll get flamed for this but I could certainly see Poirier be a player that could be traded. I'd bet you could get a decent D man out of MTL or OTT for a regional kid. And I LOVE Poirier.

Hope he comes into training camp and tears it up, but I fear you may be right. Big bodied RH C/RW don't grow on trees, I would love to see him work out as a bottom 6 player but we have like 2.5 times as many promising forwards as we do spots to play them so....
Also, didn't Treliving say he got tons of calls about Shore at the TDL? I wonder if Shore+2nd pick can get you into the first round this year?

The Flames have two more right handed C/W big bodies coming in. Wolf is 6'3", 215lbs LW, Bill Arnold is a 6'0, 200lbs Centre.
I would play Arnold ahead of Shore. What I've seen of Shore, he's not strong in the faceoff circle like Arnold is. Arnold plays a stronger 3 zone game as well. I think he could easily take Shore's spot.

You know more about the AHL but I like Shore. I think given the chance he will shine. He will be a decent bottom 6 forward. He will have to make his count chance next training camp.

Trading Drew Shore would be a massive mistake. He has all the tools and the toolbox to be an NHLer, this season he was a victim of his waiver situation and playing in Florida for half the season. He will be a top 9 forward on this team next year I am willing to bet. If he had spent the whole season with Calgary he would be ahead of Granlund and Jooris on the depth chart I'm willing to bet. Give him the offseason and a training camp before writing him off.
Who do you believe in Adirondack is way ahead of him on the depth chart? I know you watch the baby Flames a whole lot more than I do but he had the highest PPG on the Adirondack Flames this year and averaged over 2 shots per game.

Wolf is LH is he not? It looks like he had a fantastic year in Addy but he seems too slow at the NHL level, but maybe that can be corrected. But with Ferland and Bouma here already, I wonder if the flames see him as part of the long term plan?
You are right about Arnold though, if it comes down to Shore v Arnold, I would like them to keep Billy, he really seems like he has a Yelle type future and I want it to be on this team.
