Seriously...where do you come up with these things?
BTW, who the heck are you even talking about?

I think EE was talking about Swiss players drafted by the Flames. The two who pop into mind are Baertschi and Ramholt.

Ramholt was drafted in 2003. I think we should have gotten over that one by now.
I guess we should avoid Swedish players because of Tom Erixon, Canadian players because of Chucko, Fata, and Howse, and Russian players because of Medvedev.

Yeah I assumed most people would pick up on that. I don't apologize for my comments flying over the heads of some posters.

You probably should apologize for making absolutely asinine comments.

There was a interesting interview about how Swiss players are expect to be given a a chance by being given the position first then earning it (similar to Nino Niederrater)

Listen. Just because a post flies over your head it doesn't mean it's asinine. Please take it to PM as I'm sure nobody else is reading this thread to see you try and start an argument over nothing.

We've got two Swiss players on our team right now. Both have been consummate professionals.
I don't buy the idea of using the country that someone was born in as a way to determine what type of person they are.

It didn't fly over my head Erick. It was an asinine comment and I challenged you on it.

Just put him on ignore...he typically flies in with a barb and then insults. Just don't bother with it.

So if the next Crosby/McDavid/Gretzky is coming out of Switzerland, we should avoid him? That is ludicrous.

I recall there was another that didn't turn out. A mid-round pick named Emanuel Peter. He seemed promising for a short period of time but wouldn't sign and come over. I don't think he ever amounted to much anyway.

I actually don't do that but carry on doing exactly what you accuse me of.

2 years in a row, we have fleeced a rival for a 2nd round pick at the deadline for a player that has 'potential' but is straight up a liability at this level.
Berra, Baertschi. Which problem child goes next year?

I can't really think of one. Maybe a player like Granlund who seems to have moments where he looks like an NHLer but, at other times, he doesn't seem to belong.

Granlund had 18 points in 48 games while being recalled and assigned to Adirondack what, six or seven times? I can see him being moved, but as part of a package for a top-4 defenseman.
His development hasn't stagnated, and I think he's going to be a really useful NHL player. Just not better than Monahan/Bennett/Backlund/Jankowski etc

Had an idea!
|
I think the development of players like Moneyhands, Bennett and Johnny Hockey make people expect that our other young players will develop just as fast.
Giordano, who is possibly the best defensemen in the NHL didn't break out till much later in his career.

I really like what I see from Granlund when he is on his game, and when he is off he isnt really that bad... I think we would regret dealing him if we did.
