He's like Backlund, in that he is an effective player when he is healthy.

He's been solid for sure, but he's got a year left on his deal so I doubt management is thinking about extending him yet, nor should they be. He's not the type of player you extend a year early.

His recent play has certainly made what seemed like a bad trade much more palatable.
He's probably been the 5th or 6 best forward all season....good on him.

Said yes at the time, and still say yes now (at least with respect to the forwards - didn't like the swap on the blueline).

IMO, the trade was made primarily to change the culture. Tanguay was a poster child for the prior regime. They moved him out and got what they could. More importantly, they got the culture changed the way they wanted to.

Could they have been as successful changing the room if Tanguay were still here? Very much doubt it.

Kids look good early in the season. Vets show their worth down the stretch and into the playoffs. They wanted to get a physical RW and, now that he is healthy, that is exactly what they've got.

Tanguay was onlyl useful here when his buddy Iginla was here; once Iginla left, he was instantly useless. The guy has unreal skill but the deal had to be done. David Jones has been great this year and this series... not sure I can classify win or lose but he has been great

Big bodied forward that can use his body is an asset. Yet he is always injured.

Very effective player when not hurt.

Guess the same could be said about wideman too! Worst dman on the team last year when injured. Now he is playing lights out! A top two d role!

Jones is a beast when healthy. That is not too often. Yet at this moment he is in full beast mode!

Add Colborne into the mix, soft player now using his size to dominate in the playoffs?

Do any of our fans realize the contracts for the players have been paid in full now! They got paid during the season and not a dime more now in the playoffs.

Owners are loving this. Pure profit! Guys are not getting paid a dime more for what they are doing on the ice now. Its all heart!

What is the italics for?

Good mention on Cobourne, I was going to mention it somewhere but forgot. For all the attention and cred that Ferland got (and rightfully so) both Jones and Colbourne terrorized the Canucks D and forced tons of turnovers that we got chances out of. Colbourne was a it of a whipping boy for some here, but he really came through huge and we can really see where size comes in the playoffs.

Colbourne might not be a superstar but I think he has got a pretty important role on this team for years to come. Pretty good 2 way game too.

Jones and Colborne both really impressed me during this series. Jones has been wreaking havoc and putting up points while Colborne has finally learned how to throw his weight around and use his size effectively.

Fantastic to see. I could see both players on the 3rd line of our championship winning team.

A lot of the whipping boys are showing their worth now.

Engelland, Jones, Bollig, and Colborne were all whipping boys in the regular season, but then the playoffs start and the style of play changes and these guys become effective and important contributors on the team.

It is a fine line that the Kings have been trying to balance. Having enough of those big bodies that are great come playoff time, but that may not be as effective in the regular season.
